I am a paying chatgpt and codex user and I am logged in on multiple devices and suddenly https://chatgpt.com/ https://chatgpt.com/ has started returning a raw 404 status page with no HTML for me in the browsers on all devices. When I open an incognito tab the website loads fine with no user logged in.     Distributed systems are hard. For all we know, this could be the error code returned by some DNS service that is down because of load and a proxy cannot find the records, so 404 makes sense, or whatever. Systems like these don't always have a easy point in the infrastructure that can ALWAYS respond correctly no matter what.

Same, the app gives 404 if you are logged in or try to login. How many millions are being lost from this slip up? Now they can't use Codex to fix the problem and all the devs are in Tahiti on vacation. Oh no! Will they go old school and manually fix it or use Claude? After around half an hour of struggle trying to figure out why Codex keeps failing with msg "unexpected status 404 Not Found: Unknown error.." after reconnecting 5/5 times, I gave up, especially when I tested my internet connection and found it to be working properly.   Distributed systems are hard. For all we know, this could be the error code returned by some DNS service that is down because of load and a proxy cannot find the records, so 404 makes sense, or whatever. Systems like these don't always have a easy point in the infrastructure that can ALWAYS respond correctly no matter what.

After around half an hour of struggle trying to figure out why Codex keeps failing with msg "unexpected status 404 Not Found: Unknown error.." after reconnecting 5/5 times, I gave up, especially when I tested my internet connection and found it to be working properly.
