I don't think that America has a consensus on this at all. Numerous people I talk to think science should be privatized. And if more people were aware of the corruption that goes on in science the pendulum would quickly swing.

Ive worked in government labs and at universities. The grant money literally pays their salary. That aside... the amount of ways to commit corruption are endless... The amount of conferences they had in Italy and Malibu and places like that
