Reading that really makes you wonder what the hell (sorry if that offends some atheists or buddhists!) they are talking about in official meetings at the Stanford IT department. Gray beards? Pocahontas??? In my 20 years in IT, not once have

Well, you certainly can use it with just an text editor. However, due to the maturity of the language and platform, the IDE support of Java is pretty much unsurpassed and you would certainly be quite a bit more productive if you used an IDE

Call me a cynic but the fact that after almost 10 years of AI hype we are still working our way down the list of popular board games is a bit of a downer for me. I mean, having AIs to play Stratego, Risk, Go, Diplomacy and what have you aga

I really love the concept of WSL and it is certainly useful but the file system performance was so bad for me that i could never get it to work with projects that had 1000+ files.

Serif's Affinity suite has probably the greatest value for money in the whole software industry. I mean 119 bucks ONE-TIME for three pretty comprehensive graphics apps which are polished and get constant updates is very hard to beat. F

I really don't understand the doom and gloom wrt next year. What was obviously completely underestimated was the elasticity of consumer demand for gas. In Germany, consumers are using 25% less gas even if you account for the weather. S

I agree to some extent, however, IDEA often helps you with that (e.g. by converting arrays with Arrays.asList(array)). And I have to disagree: Any of them would not have been perfect. An array is sometimes significantly more performant and

I'm currently working on a project which has both Java and Kotlin and I really have to say that I like working on the Java parts much better than on the Kotlin parts. I find coroutines a really strange and leaky abstraction (and the pr

It‘s a stupid idea with all kinds of problems. What if, for some reason, your bank account is empty or your CC is over the limit at the time of departure. The transaction might fail and your flight will be canceled hours before departure.

In my opinion, it's not a really fruitful discussion. The main problem is that people seem to think that the quality of music is somehow related to the musical form which is nonsense. For the first 1600 years of the common era (the ye
