We need a more intelligent adblock that spots and blocks things like this :)

I disagree. Leave voters are already being able to say "I told you so". We haven't had a war yet, we're not in a recession, and the EU is forging ahead with its army, letting Turkey in, etc etc. I very much doubt the EU

s3cmd and s4cmd already have a "du" command. Does this do something extra?

Freenode is used by geeks to setup a channel in the same way old people still use AOL. There are far better, less restrictive, more secure networks out there.

It's one thing to shit over the workers Kraft, but to shit over the product is another (They changed the recipes, sizes, and generally turned the best chocolate in the world into shitty American chocolate (no offense to Americans)).

Maybe. It's not difficult to be profitable though. Servers are cheap. I don't think it's going to trouble Google though, which is a shame. We could do with some serious search competition.

I don't want to be rude, but I don't think DuckDuckGo has actually taken much market share to worry about yet, so maybe it's not following the usual startup route.

by volatilitish 10y ago
Isn't that basically the MO of every startup? * Offer something for free, with VC money. * Gain market share since you don't need to worry about profit. * Realise you need to make money, so start turning into the companies you sto

The older generation have seen 40 years of the EU. They know it cannot be reformed, and they know it is a corrupt undemocratic rotten sham. Young people have been fed pro-EU propaganda from the earliest ages at nursery, school, and universi

They did. Because London has become absolutely culturally detatched from the rest of the UK. The rich elite living in Islington really do love the EU. Unfortunately, the EU hasn't been quite so good for people who don't live in Lo

Are you seriously holding up the EU as some bastion of stability? How stable is Greece? Seriously - you should research it a little more. The EU is perilously unstable.

And Boris Johnson isn't in any position of power currently. It's not up to him yet.

> There is a good chance that Theresa May becomes the next MP No, there isn't. Seriously, where are you getting your information from? Are you from the UK? There isn't a chance in hell Theresa May would even get shortlisted.

We buy more from the EU than we sell. We are the EUs biggest market. We buy 1,000,000 cars from Germany. It is massively in the EU's interests to do a deal with us quickly.

Do you think the breakup of the USSR was a good thing?

It's like some people here are basing their opinions completely on "I read it online".

I don't understand. The EU has been extremely ineffective at negotiating trade deals between the 28 EU countries, and non EU countries. We (UK) will be far more effective at negotiating our own trade deals with non EU countries. It&#x2

by volatilitish 10y ago
No. We will now be free to negotiate trade deals with countries outside the EU (Which we currently are not able to do. The EU has been absolutely awful at trying to negotiate trade deals with other countries). We will negotiate a trade deal

As a brit, it's strange to see how it's being spun here. The majority of people voted to leave the EU and to regain independence. There will be a little volatility until some facts about how that divorce happens, emerge. Long term

That would indeed be the norm for forums. But not for chat. Real time chat is typically more usually a single line entry. Having auto-complete on that is irritating and utterly spoils the UI.

by volatilitish 10y ago
There are lots of examples. I'll give one. A text input for a chat you're having with someone. It's very very offputting and irritating to have the browser constantly cluttering the UI with suggestions about what you might wa

So you want to squash the tiny amount of competition there is in the online advertising space? I think it would be fantastic to have a credible alternative to Google adsense, but there isn't one at the moment. Technically, a better app

It's worse than that IMHO. They dislike "deceptive" adverts. So for example, if it's an image, saying "download" then Google will block your website. Who knows, maybe in the future they'll start banning we

One of the problems there, is Google has locked this down. Chrome and Firefox warn users if they visit "deceptive websites", and disallow it. It's touted as part of their "safe browsing feature". What it means in pr

But how can you validate your own existence, if you don't have other lives to compare it against?! ;) I think the whole phenomenon is fascinating - people these days can't experience anything without photographing it, or updating
