My final thoughts are, what my original comment (2-3 comments up the chain) was. Your “solution” doesn’t solve anything, but merely delays the inevitable. There is only one solution to global warming, which is stopping fossil fuels. Deletin

Sure, but that methane + CO2 has been in a steady cycle (cow -> air -> grass -> cow) and fairly constant quantity (before mass agriculture there were e.g. numerous bisons in the US), so they’re not contributing to “global warming”

Livestock emissions form a cycle. If you literally killed and deleted all cows from the planet, you’d get a slight delay in global warming, but wouldn’t solve it. The real and only issue are fossil fuels.

I hold both of these views. Science is about figuring out the truth about the world. Censorship prevents that. Something that is not reproducible isn’t even science. I really don’t see a contradiction.

Ah, right, I always did overhead dumbbell press so I first thought of that. Yeah 50lbs barbell press is trivial, and using pins or even Smith machine it’s completely safe.

Holding a heavy weight overhead is an inherently unstable position. Even if you can lift it overhead (using momentum), doesn’t mean you can hold it overhead. Even if you can do a few overhead presses, you need to be very careful not to do i

It’s not that 10rep set is injurious. It’s that 50lbs is injurious, even just lifting it overhead.

It's technically not a "bug" in Rust or C++, it's undefined behaviour , which is much worse than a bug! (and it's never correct behaviour)

If “green technology” was superior on it’s own terms (cheaper, more available, etc) it wouldn’t need support from politicians. Hint: it’s not, it’s a massive failure, and stupid countries like Germany are now paying the price.

I doubt they’re arguing in good faith. There is an argument to be made that we should improve education and bring more people up to speed (e.g. a lot of top10% of high schoolers can learn integration but it required a once-in-10-generations

The areas with highest quality of life have declining population, so your premise is flawed. Obviously the solution is to increase our resource usage. If we had abundant clean energy (e.g. nuclear, maybe even wind/solar) none of this w

> The UK is in the process of phasing out paper notes You wrote it in a way that makes it sound really evil. In reality they’re just exchanging paper notes for plastic notes - some thing but harder to tear/destroy.

No, the reason is that people pretend that their favourite freedom-restricting policy is “against climate change”. Ban meet. Ban non-private flights. Turn off hot water. Ban nuclear. Ban bitcoin. Ban aircon. All fake, authoritarian “solutio

Thanks! I’ve still to read the article (hopefully I can find the full text somewhere) but looks like instead of batteries they’re proposing heat-based energy storage (and radical energy use reduction). Edit: The study you linked to actually

Other providers can still ban you. Switching providers sometimes requires all existing subscribers to “opt in” again. Regardless you’re still owned by a platform. Gmail ain’t gonna let you deliver 1000s of emails yourself.

Can you share some of these studies? I just don’t understand how you can power a grid at night with just wind and solar (no batteries). Even the US isn’t large enough that sun would always be shining somewhere.

Why? Cow pastures are nice to look at. Grass, trees, ponds. Land paved with solar panels? Not a nice view.
