It’s so sad how inaccessible our democracy is. In one of Jimmy Carter’s books he discusses sneaking out of The White House to go jogging on his own. Of course the secret service wasn’t a fan... it’s depressing to be in DC and our most imp

Historically, US has been a large homogeneous market, compared to Europe where there’s been more separation between French, German, Spanish, UK, markets. This really changes how the market works in Europe. You can simply make one product in

It’s eye opening to eat a fresh banana. In Mexico I ate what I can describe only as a “juicy” banana. Much richer in flavor and pungent than what we buy in the states. I strongly recommend it if you’re ever in an area that grows bananas.

Yeah I don’t need to google and stare at dashboards to have some situational awareness. Usually it comes up in texts or conversation “yeah we’re at 1.5 9/11s a day now”. Which sadly is likely to be true for some time and not change :(.

I question the supposition. We are interested. Since November, many I know went from occasionally seeing friends outside socially distant to keeping to themselves. People don’t need to google about it, we know it’s bad. Of courses search me

Very cool! Also I’d hope to see Lyme in the mix. It’s so pervasive and creates all kinds of weird dietary and nervous system issues.

I’m curious what the legal liability is for platforms that host content that “incites violence”[1] 1 - I realize this can range anywhere from emotional calls to protest up to the “clear and imminent danger” doctrine. And the specifics of th

I think the opposite is true: unless it’s agreed upon I work outside work hours, I’m not going to do it. I’m not going to stop everything at a vacation with my kids to solve a bug. And I would not work anyplace that wanted that.

Here’s what I do: - never install slack or email on your phone - use a separate laptop for personal stuff. I don’t/can’t log in to work stuff here. - put your work laptop away and out of sight when done work - (optionally) give a few t

I think the interesting test here might be whether a tool like Twitter could still be on AWS during an event like the Arab Spring to coordinate against repressive regimes. Or if those regimes could also claim the same “incites violence” exc

The investigative journalism is true at the national level, but locally it seems there’s not nearly as much as there used to be, with the void being filled with social media and activists

I think there are speech issues involved here, but before you go too far down the road of comparing it to your idyllic childhood, remember the media context of the 80s and 90s. Specifically that National News controlled by professional jour

I think there are so so many variables it’s impossible to answer this question: - do you have kids/care about education? - do you need good internet (assuming yes)? - do you prefer the city vs suburbs vs the countryside? - do you care

I spent several years underpaid at a lifestyle company as a specialist. I didn't want the golden handcuffs, I didn't want the pressure. I've learned this was a big mistake If you're paid at market value for your partic

I have had a vasectomy (which my urologist knows, cause his office did it). I'd be curious why you say that. Is there a link?

Thanks so much. I'm actually not in the Bay Area. But yesterday I met a second urologist. They diagnosed me as CPPS after a 1-2 years of misdiagnosis from sleep doctors, primary, and another urologist. So I'm happy to finally have

Well honestly I have had a lot of sleep problems in the last 2 years. It seems I have CPPS[1], where I am up all night with an overactive bladder. The result is 5 or 6 out of 7 nights I get very little sleep. I am in a role where I'm i

Doesn't appear to be earth shattering changes. In fact it looks pretty boilerplate. As someone who maintains an Elasticsearch plugin, you often have to do A LOT of research into how Elastic themselves have dealt with their undocumented
