How much do you make? I'm also mid-level dev at financial company (130k). I wonder how to progress from here. I'm thinking I need to crush my usual work and then start taking ownership of features, communications etc.

Does bulk/metadata analysis even count though? It's not like somebody is personally going through your data. It's just a system that can infer the few records that are of interest. I'd rather have that, and allow us to s

So does he also have a moral imperative to stand trial for what laws he himself broke? So basically the US needs to follow their strict laws to the T. But adversaries like Russia and China can play as dirty as they want. Moralists will do w

Where did you read that about 10-30%? Honestly it kind of makes sense. And bro i was talking about NYC, of course it is more dense than Stockholm

Yeah but I wonder if you truly need 60-70% for herd immunity in such a spread out place like Sweden. Even stockholm is very wide, completely different than a place like NYC.

Yup. I was already very much leaning towards that (much more than the average millenial). Esp in NYC. At least until next April/May, why would you want to pay $2k/month for a shoebox room that you work remote from. Ridiculous.

Very good point. This is something that is easy to understand but difficult to internalize. You gotta step back, relax, and live your life. That's why all the social media etc is poison.

Yeah, you're right. I guess there is a fine line between "just do it" and "measure twice, cut once". Of course you can just put your head down and follow the traditional path, and end up fine - with kids, house, etc

Yeah but that doesn't mean rush to have kids right...? Because then the best path would be to have kids at like 25, which prob isn't the best way to happiness.

Ugh my whole job the past few months has been solving problems in other peoples' code, and it's already pretty complicated code. So painful.

Cities are overrated. You can leverage your salary and live somewhere actually cool and carve your own path, while living like a king.

This is def solid advice. Once you have a good idea of the codebase, going hard like this would be like a few months of investment? Which I think pays more dividends unless you have a burning desire for something on the side (mastering inte

New York seems like it's turned into a caricature of itself. Think it's worth living there after you've had your year or two of fun?

Rofl. Yeah it actually makes complete sense. If you're willing to dig in and make stuff happen, so that your skills/chutzpah combo is like 2-3 standard devs outside the norm... you can get a crazy good deal.

Mostly due to the media being very divisive. People get dragged unknowningly (mostly) into these media/thought bubbles on IG and other platforms... of course things will get divisive. And it's self-perpetuating, because the leader
