Nice! I'm kind of a mid-level late 20's dev who is thinking on doubling down on the Java ecosystem and being a jack of all trades within it... think it is worthwhile? Do Vertx and Akka work well together?

In the US I would suspect trump's H1b freeze to push up the market value for any engineer, especially the middle standard deviation skill-wise.

I'm only 28 so I don't know all the answers... but I think you can be a sort of "relaxed ambitious" where you are very content with your life as it is, and any drive to achieve is driven by curiosity moreso than pure amb

So you are basically saying that the cohesion of China is because they are doing better economically these past few decades... and thus people's egos are at an all-time high. Thus they support the regime.

The "current situation" is not as clear-cut as many would make it out to be. Watching an emotional video is not the smoking gun that shows one side to be completely right, but that's what's happening now. I would think a

Yup, and exactly part of the reason they are protesting. Goes to show how much "relative" economic success is important to peoples' satisfaction of government. Even in the US, that is the #1 issue in every Pres election. How&

True. I think this comes down to: will the US gov just continually print money while there is a slowdown from both top down lockdown and also people just trying to stay safe.

Yeah true... there will be a glut of used cars. Therefore more people can afford to get a used one, which will lower the brand premium they've been enjoying.

Life in China is fine right now. They are living about 50x better off than their parents. They are educated. The CCP is super clever and imbued a sort of nationalistic pride from birth. Instead of the US's more complicated dualistic in

Faster at all things, or faster only at certain things that have already been optimized for the iphones?

I'm thinking of using this 1 year to kind of reduce the stimuli and recenter. Have def had my share of these experiences in the city. Not drinking alcohol for 2020 as one of my ways of resetting.

I've actually had a ton of these the past few years in the city. Of course more dates are always welcome. Figure maybe 1 year of living clean and reducing the stimuli in the late 20s could be good.

Yeah good point. I just don't want to be chatting digitally with somebody for so long... it's kind of a waste of time for both parties, but esp for a guy. Biggest concern is bringing it back to my parents accidentally. Do you go o

You think staying in Manhattan is going to be worth it during the fall/winter? Basically nothing to do besides order takeout and walk around, bad weather. No big concerts, etc.

I'm being very strict with doing worthwhile things and not lounging around. I feel like it is almost more of a growth-phase than if I stayed in the city. In the city there are so many stimuli to distract you perpetually... food, raves,

Yeah all you can do in NYC now is go to the park and get take-out food... not going to socialize heavily since all big events are cancelled.
