I have thought about this before, even without the clever hack indicated here: Likes ought to drop off after an edit, or be clearly pointing to the previous version after any edit. IE they need to reflect staleness, and posts must better re

Ditto. If I crash my bicycle into any car, I'm guaranteed to be the worst off. And a pedestrian would likely be far better off than if I was in a car. (Ps peds get off your bloody phones when crossing the road, especially when emerging

I'm thinking Kaggle should look to Epic/Fortnite for how to handle cheaters. A lifetime ban would not be out of the place here, considering it went on to win the competition with no admission until caught.

I like that metaphor. Squatting is the integral part of my routine, either for heavy with 5x5 stronglifts or for reps/volume as a warm up when doing a shorter/lighter arm filler day session. For me the hardest exercise is still pr

Wise words! One other thing to this is to always deload properly after a break. Just let the first session back be easy as, way easier than you might feel like. Letting go of the ego of pushing out numbers is key to learning to listen to th

I tried the Dirt Rally game with my Lenovo VR kit. Super, super fun ... until my stomach revolted. As opposed to Elite Dangerous where I could go on for hours, I merely lasted 10 minutes before I had to stop.

Nice! Cheers, I've ordered my own sensor and will be buying my own Pie as well. Will be a fun learning experience for me. I realised I pasted the wrong link above, although still of interest. Anyway, here's a Pie specific article:

You could build your own with a Raspberry Pie and an sds011 sensor. Edit: Example @ https://aqicn.org/sensor/sds011/

Great article. It would be interesting if we could monitor productivity in the major Australian CBDs these days. A lot of the big office buildings don't have the capability to filter the unhealthy / toxic bushfire smoke, and the w

Sadly, don't hold your breath for that in Australia. Although if you are in Australia right now, you might still want to do just that. It's all rather ironic right now.

It's nonetheless a good story if viewed from the perspective of a complete couch potato. As a way of getting started, doing 20 minute walks is great! As long as it leads to higher intensity after adaptation, which it should allow.

Agree. Although, when I'm doing my working set of deadlifts (after a series of warm up ones) my whole body is by then heaving for air and on fire after the last rep. It certainly gets the heart rate going. Now I don't do those eve

Doing something enjoyable is super important. You'll want to be able to treasure the time spent using the equipment / activity. Kudos to OP/TFA for sticking with it, but I'm wondering if exploring other options would be

Aye. My own goal in my late 40s, a bit overweight, is to get strong first, lose weight second. I'd hardly ever get an endorphin rush/hit from cycling, but I get them regularly from weights. They certainly help the mind settle, eve

Normally these +40c days have happened a fair bit later in the summer. To experience 43c on the road in Melbourne today so early feels ominous for what's to come. This is not doing any good for the fire situation either. I'm amaze

Sorry, but if I buy a six core laptop, I'm not going to be in the casual notepad user category. In many laptops, thanks to bad thermals I'd be better off with a 4 core where the thermals can keep up. That's where the 7nm stuf

I think my point is that a lot of laptops have been held back (throttled) by the thermal solutions not being able to cope with the heat. More efficient design will give better perf.

Just about every 6 core mobile CPU laptop struggles with thermals. 7nm could conceivably upend that.
