Same. I came to this realization during the pandemic. I loved the tech and startup culture but that only holds your interest for so long. I would love to live somewhere cheaper and has more vibrant small city life.

This is pretty common for most elite institutions in the United States. These institutions have the financial strength (look at the US universities endowments and it's pretty eye-watering) and have the financial incentives to push prog

The family/marriage FOMO bug is definitely a thing for sure. I think that's one venue I'll try to explore a bit more. How do you keep such positive outlook at the next decade?

I wore my job like an armor and it was super disorienting to find something... that wasn't attached to my job. School, travel (in the form of conferences), etc were all for career. You're right about career prospects. I'm hop

It's super confusing and does feel like a grind. I don't think I ever had to self-evaluate myself to this degree. I'll give your suggestion a try. Appreciate the kind words.

I'm pretty sure there are accounting interest groups that don't want easy way to file taxes. It still boggles my mind that somehow I have to calculate how much I owe to the IRS when they can calculate it themselves and just give m

I think there's a precedence for it too. I believe George Dantzig's doctoral advisor offered to accept the solutions to a homework set as a thesis since it solved major open statistical problems.

Probably some? I used to work in client platform engineering. Most teams recognized that this was going to happen back when Apple acquired Fleetsmith in 2020. It will most likely compete with non-enterprise MDM space (think Jamf Now) at fir

I did a similar thing. I burned out hard at Peloton and left back in November to join a hybrid private/state/federal entity. I get paid 30K less but I do make up for it with MUCH better work life balance. I'd say look inside

I spent some time as CPE so I guess the naming convention always made sense? You went from lesser cats to greater cats and now to different sites in CA. Each naming always comes with a version number to fall back on...

I have my gripes about Peloton as a former employee (left back in November 2021), but this is just a hit piece. They're taking whatever facts that conveniently fits their narrative.

I’m self taught. I also don’t recommend this route for career since you miss out on opportunities or have to make up for credentialing through different ways. Self teaching is viable for people who usually have talent, grit or often both.
