Is this really surprising? We cannot have meritocracy and a system where some people will go missing for a year at a time (and perhaps come back with completely different motivations). There is a fundamental mismatch, and as much as some pe

Where do you get this certainty from? What about population pressures? What about religous disagreements, what about nationalism? Old grudges? Why can't fundamental belief systems be part of the substrate of this equation that results

Yes, in ArrayLists ... etc., but if you want compact values on the stack, or compact value data structures you don't need this. I feel like 80% of the solution (and one which is likely future compatible) is going begging whilst they wo

Presumably I'm missing something, but are they trying to do something more than just Boxing value types? (Specialization?) I cannot see how legacy classes would be impacted if Boxing was used, nor quite why it is going to be so difficu

I would disagree. The problem is the unnatural, ever expanding range of concern for the entire human population as it increases and as things globalise. We in general get no additional happiness from remote billions of people and only added

It is of course more akin to anti-semitism. Which is in essence a resentment against a more successful and influential class of people. To be sure in all of these divides there is some substance to both sides (otherwise there wouldn't

This is just wishful thinking. There is evidence that base intelligence is decreasing. It is just improvements to education (and possibly fudged statistics) can mask the effect, for a while at least.

Unfortunately this amounts to unreciprocated virtue. Ultimately I believe all the demographic optimism will be confounded as we are effectively selecting for women who are broodier (and similar for men). Having met women who 'just love

Except measures (and measurements) and all of this stuff just don't seem to work. In the abstract they sound good, but in implementation they always look incredibly lacking and seem to just further perversify incentives. It's not

I just think 'academic stuff' has a danger of being too broad and nebulous a goal. Just don't do things for the wrong reasons, and recognize that the end of undergraduate studies is a big life change regardless of what you do

So many problems, and probably too much good press for the post-graduate qualifications and the system as a whole. My somewhat anecdotal recollection (from a good university) was that most PhD students stayed on by default as a way to conti

Perhaps it is part of the point, but the stigmatized narrative is no more correct according to the 4Q model than the sanctioned one. That is it appears to map 'troglodytes' as morally virtuous. That is surely the correct narrative

Ok, sure, but we have to consider whether that is worth it, and if they can run unpriveleged code, there is a good chance there is a software privelege escalation available anyway. Of course on shared servers this is going to be a nightmare
