I grew up in NYC and lived there until I was 32 and then moved to rural Massachusetts. The time I spent in NYC has been invaluable to my career, but I am able to draw on that (the network, the experience, etc) from where I am now and get m

Yes. I work at Trello, and the FogCreek trilogy (FC, Trello, and StackOverflow) all hire remote -- and have near 50/50 I believe.

Let's say I read an article that is incredibly interesting and useful, but the author uses "methodology" when they could use "method" -- are you advocating that I don't post it? If someone makes an interesting

Do you have a good reason (aside from habit) for being late to commitments? If not, fix the behavior -- it's annoying and disrespectful in US business norms. If you have a good reason, explain it to your boss. I managed someone who l

Pay is slightly below average for my area, and benefits are extremely poor by any standard. Frankly, none of the other stuff matters to me as much as this. Look for a job while you still have one and move on if you think you see yourself

That does nothing to mitigate the risk. It's not just the hard drive that matters -- it's the equipment, which includes the entire PC.

When I have worked at places that required them, I looked at who they gave (didn't care what they said). Recent ex-boss is good -- boss from 15 years ago when you were an intern: troubling. I would not reject on this, but I might ask
