VCs don't put all of their eggs in one basket, but they want to put them very specific baskets. They are not looking for you to manage their portfolio. I would think of them as investing in a team focussed on solving a problem in a ma

Yes -- cost is pretty much the main concern at scale. The best thing to do is to have a revenue model that makes you not have to care about that. Then, if it make sense at some point to try to reduce that cost, you can replace it.

I've used Parse and would do so again -- I also use other stuff. They are excellent for getting up quickly and "it depends" on whether they are ok for scaling. Personally, I worry about fixing that when/if it happens.

I don't recommend you try to do this without networking. I was successful at getting projects from a big company, but I don't think blind applications would have worked. That being said, I will try to explain the process that on

You can use most of the ones you use for Mac, but you have to set up a proxy so that the device traffic goes to your computer. Charles supports this directly. http://www.charlesproxy.com/documentation/faqs/using-c

Not having a cofounder is a sign that you are not making something people want. The solution is to make something people want and get better at communicating that this is true.

I have absolutely no experience with YC applications and know almost nothing about the teams that got in. Given that -- my take: You are worried about all the wrong things. Instead, you should worry about whether you are making something pe

There is research that confirms your intuition, but mostly because it taxes cognitive energy reserves. Even if you can do it quickly or time-box it, it leaves you less able to do hard things. Look for papers by Roy Baumeister, or the book

How does a law that limits the government ruin America? Or specifically, how does a law limiting the use of surveillance footage by police ruin America? Why would it require a constitutional amendment? I honestly don't understand your

In America, we can make pretty much any law limiting government for any reason we want, or no reason at all. We can get a long way doing that and by definition, limiting government doesn't impact citizen free speech.

I'm impressed if it appears that the resume was rewritten for the specific job I am hiring for. That's what I do. What this mainly means is editing and accentuating.

YC has publicly stated that long-term big visions are exactly what they are looking for. The problem isn't that you need time, it's that the result of waiting won't be big enough to justify it.

2.5 million in a well managed (even conservative) portfolio is practically guaranteed to be enough for retirement in 10 years with passive oversight. You would be adding to it with savings as well. I guess if you're hell bent on being

If you had $2.5 million cash, would you put it all into one company? Even if you like crazy growth stocks, there's an index fund for that. This is about risk reduction and wealth preservation -- going for expected value maximization i
