It’s good thing we moved from these old urban walkable designs to a car centric lifestyle, which the vast majority of Americans enjoy. The tradeoff of owning a single family home with a good plot of land is well worth the loss in walkabilit

Sorry, I don't buy that either. Single family homes are objectively nicer in many ways. Some, like mine, are even in very walkable neighborhoods. I've lived in apartments and houses, and I'd take the house every single time.

There is a very zealous nature to pro-density advocates online. I appreciate the passion of these people, but I admit I very much find solace that all people people I know in the physical world don’t feel the same way. Which, I suppose, is

I don't buy that Americans on average actually want to live in the "missing middle". They want a small detached house. Lower income folks were able to afford small detached houses for nearly half of the 20th century. The rece

No, thanks, I’d prefer to not see the neighborhood I live in and all the work my neighbors and I have put into it not get bulldozed for ugly modern “dense” buildings. Large towers create unhappy people. Humans were not meant to live that wa

This is something I'm excited about, as I have the time & interest. One concern I have though, is coming up with an idea I'm passionate about enough to run with. Where are these business ideas found? A Ubiquiti host is great o

Something tells me that residential water rationing will be less palatable to the West's population than "California Almonds will be significantly more expensive this season".

Take amazon, for example. Fine the corporation for using excessive packaging at scale. People don't have a choice of what packaging they receive.

I encourage you to read more on how the monetary system works. Debt = more currency for use around the world. We need to continuously increase money supply to keep the dollar from appreciating too much and causing a disastrous level of defl

I think you misunderstood. Vegas uses less water in total than in the 70s, in spite of the population difference.

Have you ever considered that the FED just really doesn't know what it's doing? Their track record clearly shows they are shooting in the dark on every policy decision they make. The economy is an extremely volatile, unpredictable

It seems to me that there's a common theme among urbanist folks. That is, if people don't like the urbanist vision, they should be forced to change their habits via government policy, even if they don't like those changes. Wh

An export ban would place the maximum American crude price at about $70/barrel, since that's a little bit above the shale breakeven price. Prices would tank overnight. There is no conceivable scenario where an export ban would not

Please stop the urbanism spam. On average, Americans like suburbs. They like driving. They like space, a yard, a DIY workshop, and sunlight. They don't like cities. "haha go live in a city and bike to work" is not a fair resp

It's not really the fare evasion itself that is the problem (though it does allow people to use transit as a homeless shelter). Fare evasion is a symptom; the real issue is it being politically unviable to have a police force actively

I live near a rapid bus line in Seattle. One stop is a block away from my house, and the other stop is 2 blocks from the office. The traffic to the office is always awful, so a pleasant ride to the office, skipping traffic via dedicated bus

Not really a rescinding of a signed offer for business reasons, since the person in question didn’t get a Visa. The offer would have had to be rescinded regardless. Looks more like they weren’t able to get a Canadian offer letter approved,

Americans don’t want to live in small apartments, and large portion haven’t had to do so for 50 years. Building more small units with no yard to replace the housing that is most desirable is not something Americans will be willing to accept
