I've always suspected that obsessive interest in the Dunning-Kruger effect is following an inverse curve of the effect itself :) Graph: https://twitter.com/fabianstelzer/status/1253647480966852610

I found this way of thinking - where you pool risks across the entire population - never particularly useful. For example, the risk of drowning, here quantified as "1 in 1,128" is actually pretty much 0 for people who don't g

I don't have the table but the conclusion of the relevant authorities in the EU is basically that the risk of the vaccine-induced mortality is at least comparable to the risk of COVID19-mortality for younger women under 60 specifically

It doesn't work like that alas - the AZ thrombosis is a pretty serious condition and the best theory we have right now suggests it can't be just treated with an aspirin.

Great to see stuff like this on HN. Curious: there is an unbelievably huge wealth of this type of "content" that lives almost exclusively in history books, or at least seems profoundly difficult to find on the internet. Then there

That's not how music works. My bet is we will see crappy music for ads replaced with AI generated stuff, but NFTs etc may actually mean a much more interesting market for real musicians moving forward..

Meh. This is an extremely basic drum machine / step sequencer with a larger number samples, and I'm pretty sure I've seen the "sample cloud" approach lots of times by now in various VSTs. Probably still fun for folk

Not sure...if "total collapse" is the test case that something must survive in order to hold any value, virtually nothing that we consider valueable today would be valueable in the first place. That said, maybe you're right,

The clotting with AZ is very different and more serious than what the thrombosis associated with the pill - about half of those who get it die even with best medical care. It predominanctly affects folks who would have a miniscule risk of d

I don't think that's the case, the US isn't exporting any vaccines afaik and the EU doses are primarily produced in Europe.

Looks like this may be a bit more relevant than many of the snarky comments would suggest - the relevant German authority on this said that they have seen a unexpected increase in a specific type of blood clotting issue that usually is very

Germany has a "homemade" vaccine (BioNTech), in fact it was the first reliable vaccine on the market, and pioneering an entirely new medical paradigm at it, but the EC botched the process of acquiring it.

My completely unscientific perception is that companies that focus too much on getting the perfect domain name from the get go are doomed to fail, and especially so if they buy a domain for more than $1k..

Yes, but if the error consistently results in you getting paid more than you should have, it's not really an error, is it? No, we would in fact call that fraud.

No, in fact you should consider it a relevant signal contributing to the UX of a site: if you're appalled by seeing this on a site, you are vrey very likely not a good fit for them and vice versa.

No offense, but you do sound a little triggered, and I completely understand why (in some sense). That being said, there are many different types of wrong/right, and the way in which the self-vaccinating Rationalist is "wrong"
