I don’t think you appreciate how bad full remote work can be for someone that thrives on having people around them. But I do appreciate the point you make here, asking others to do something they don’t appreciate just because you want to ha

Fair enough, but then again if one is to spend a certain large part of one’s day doing something, shouldn’t that be something one enjoys to some degree? And the degree of socialization might matter for the judgement of that. I.e. if you don

No, hybrid means that you get none of the communications benefits of being in the same room, unless you inconvenience the remote part by having side discussions. Once you level the playing field there, you might as well have the meeting ful

Nah, it’s not. Not at all. You’re asking a portion of the population that thrives on socialization to avoid that for the majority of the day. That is just as bad as insisting on forcing that on the introverts.

Consider that the world has introverts and extroverts. Consider also that your job is something you spend the majority of your waking hours doing. Consider then that the extroverts might prefer that to have some level of socialization. The

What is unfair? That in office people get knowledge and discussions that WFH don’t? If so, how is it any fairer to level the playing field to the point where nobody gets that? (No, it will never have the same flow virtually, over the past

Hypocrisy in itself doesn’t invalidate the point about the modern entertainment stuff being problematic. Even if what we grew up with had its own problems.

And your GameBoy wasn’t designed with psychiatrists on the team to improve the addictiveness/retention/click-rate. It’s important to remember that todays screens aren’t the screens of yore, but quite a lot more devious. It’s fairl

The drive itself abstracts out the raw stream if I understood things correctly. Similar to how a PC floppy controller can’t do a low level disk image, because it does some interpretation of the signal before handing it over to the system. O

The shell script is abstracted, and can hide a lot of the ugliness to the average user, whereas “type this into your terminal” goes full arcane black magic to the average user. But any opening of a terminal means we’re not in Kansas any mor

There’s a lengthy explanation in the wiki linked from the github page. But basically cd drives don’t give you a raw stream, and does stuff like error correction.
