I wish I could ban weed smoke smell in NYC. One person smoking makes a 30 foot diameter smell like skunk. Just use edibles and/or vapes people!

In fact, I would go even further and predict that all cause mortality will be under baseline for countries most affected by climate change in the next 10 years vs 10 years prior, and life expectancy will go up. I absolutely believe that cli

I'll bet you a thousand dollars there will be not even 10 million deaths over current level directly linked to climate change, like drought, heat stroke, etc.

I think this lawsuit is dumb and anti-consumer. I've also been active on HN since 2008. Not astroturfing :)

It's pretty crazy to me that the FTC targeted Amazon in particular because they had a bone to pick, have done massive discovery, and just gone fishing with that discovery to find anything that sounds vaguely bad. I think this is probab

It's fine to visit, but in every measure of happiness people in poor countries are more lonely and report worse life satisfaction.

There's little nothing more important to the happiness of humanity than increased productivity per capita. That sounds crazy but when you think about it it's true.

Building a business is the same way. Just constant punches in the face you have to persevere through.

I even think a quarterly off site is too much. Yearly is fine. Organizing flights, pet care, etc every 3 months is such a damn hassle, and I don't even have kids.

I learned file systems by pirating games and having to find the cracked folder. Html from neopets. Port forwarding router stuff from hosting multiplayer games. Hotkeys from Starcraft. Etc etc. Give smart kids a fun goal and they will learn

Once you know cats (or probably any other advanced animal) you can read their emotions like a book. Lots of people don't know how to read cats though.

I have literally never seen actual evidence of harm from ad tracking by Google or Meta, even though I've asked dozens of times on HN. Please dont say Cambridge Analytica, which is so meaningless it hurts.

You can see in this thread that 20 different HNers who are passionate about the subject and done implementation before have 20 different opinions on what the law actually does. So how can we expect random businesses to all be on the same pa

The privacy regulations are brutal though. Let me give you an example. Say you want to target HR decision makers using Facebook ads. The most efficient and cutting edge way (that we do in the USA) is make a broad, master audience to target,

All of these regulations impact smaller tech companies more than the big players. I've worked with literally 100 plus start-ups from seed stage all the way to post IPO. About 15 of those were EU companies. From my experience, the exper

It's amusing to me how much it seems like the EU has a monkeys paw when it comes to tech regulation. There will be regret in 10 years as the US economy continues to grow and the EU shrinks.
