Nope. It seems better in Belmont, San Carlos, Burlingame, San Mateo, and Millbrae. Don’t notice the homeless hanging around CalTrain stops anymore. There used to be a few tents pitched along the tracks upper Peninsula. I don’t see those an

It’s because people get a dopamine hit from reacting emotionally to stories. On the other hand, reading before reacting requires resisting going after the dopamine hit and actually works the other way. You have to get sadder consuming time

I was born in and grew up in SF. I still go once in awhile. SF got a lot worse. I didn’t grow up with tents surrounding City Hall nor tents lining the sidewalk in the Tenderloin. Go look at Polk Street in Nob Hill. Go look at Van Ness. Go l

Incarceration rate is an invalid indicator. You need to look at the crime rate, the release rate, and the rehabilitation rate. There are cycles of poverty and culture causing this but the government’s actions turn SF into both a honeypot an

They are effectively going to resegregate the school system. The parents of high performing kids that can afford it will move to school systems with advanced learning classes whether public or private.

I think that we should be able to test this in a simulation. I think the crux of the idea is that if a group of people stop fighting for a bit amongst themselves and instead wipe out another group, then the other group will no longer reprod

You are looking at the wrong level. It is tribal reproduction that is being optimized. An individual is just a cell of that tribe and doesn’t even need to reproduce as long as the tribe reproduces. This is just like how your hair doesn’t ha

The interview process is being gamed. Just read the article. I am not trying to single out her. It is an industry wide practice. You mostly get people who are good at passing the interview versus who know how to program. But that is ok, bec

That is part of it. A lot of Chinese and Southeast Asian cooking is based on the wok (cut things into small pieces and stir fry at high heat). This lets them cook an entree fast. Others are partly cooked and finished when ordered. Lastly, t
