Yup, you'd want to strike out any clauses like that before you signed any employment contract that had them in.

Without a specific licence there would be an implicit contract that the employer could use the library for any projects that Nick has used the library on. If after Nick leaves they would be on shaky ground if they used it on other projects

Agreed, but he's based in the UK, so the 'we own all your IP' thing doesn't apply here. On company time yes, in your own time I believe not. Your own time would not be "in the course of his or her employment." http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types

He built it during University, so before he started working for the employer. They may have a legitimate business concern, but that doesn't change the fact that it's Nick's IP and he can do what he wants with it.

I did a quick google search and it was one of the first references that came up. I only have to provide a citation that CAM sometimes works to disprove Nursies assertion that CAM "doesn't work".

I started out on Elance many years ago and to be honest it's pretty tough to make a decent living off. If I were you I'd try getting out and about locally and meet people face to face. Lots of developers have too much work that they'd be ha

How about, for unauthorised access to have occurred, the data accessed must have been 'secured', with 'secured' defined according to industry practices. If I told a client that I had 'secured' their website, but access was available by incr

Nice use of selective quoting. Heres another. "Other aspects of naturopathic medicine, like healthy nutrition, have been shown to lower the risk of illnesses such as heart disease and cancer. Some aspects of naturopathic medicine may be us

Right, but if you've tried doctors and they haven't been able to help, and if you have heard of a treatment which anecdotally works, and has no reported side effects, then why wouldn't you try it. If it works for you then you still have a s

3.5 years for accessing public urls and then forwarding the information on to a media organisation (yes I know it's Gawker, but still). Makes me wonder what Aaron would have got if he'd gone to trial.

I'm sorry but anecdotes are evidence, just with a very small sample size. You can keep saying "it doesn't work" as many times as you like but you'll still be wrong.

That's pretty unscientific, purely based on the opinions of a collection of individuals. It also completely ignores the very personal nature of a diet. What's easy to follow for one person will be very difficult for another. And if you're r

Well I know several people for whom the Paleo diet has worked, and also alt medicine. I don't know why it works but it's unscientific to ignore the evidence simply because you don't understand it.

Has anyone claimed that the Paleo diet is unhealthy ? From what I've seen the only complaints against it are that the claimed reason for it's effectiveness are not well supported. I don't have any studies but it certainly seems healthier t

It's fairly standard for big corps to outsource software development. They see software as a cost centre, and in some ways it is. Even at a loss of $5000 per day they may have still come out on top in the long run. Edit: source, my brother

I'm not saying "they suck" at all. Just providing a piece of anecdata. So most of us on here work on the web and it would be standard for us to work with source control. Software controlling an oil field is a step above the bog standard CRU

There's no reason why Automattic shouldn't use Drupal if it's the right tool for a particular job. Drupal projects have used Wordpress in the past, Microsoft use Linux servers etc etc.
