Dang is going to have 65,535 karma points soon
- MuffinFlavored 4y agoDoes he get paid to do moderation full time?
- dang 4y agoYes. Well, that and write code, which unfortunately is a vanishing piece of pie.
- owlninja 4y agoWhat if it was a cake :)
- deleted 4y ago[deleted]
- MuffinFlavored 4y agowhat does the infrastructure of HN look like? 1 tall SQL server and an API written in... Python? Ruby? Rails? How many instances? Cloud? How tall of a server/servers? It is as interesting to me as those "here is how we run StackOverflow" articles No newfangled complicated k8s I'm guessing :P
- dang 4y agoHN is written in Arc, a Lisp that pg created. Hardware hasn't changed much since https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16076041 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16076041. I believe traffic is closer to 6M now.
- codetrotter 4y agoIt’s a neat number. It is the maximum value of an unsigned 16-bit integer.
- deleted 4y ago[deleted]
- unyttigfjelltol 4y agoDoes HN overflow to zero when dang gets there?
- Koshkin 4y agoOnly the downvoting can save him.
- EGreg 4y agoWill he be the first person to have negative karma otherwise? And the most tremendous one at that! Believe me, no one will have smaller karma than him, nobody. What happens if he gets downvoted then? Will it wrap around to the HIGHEST KARMA? :)
- dheera 4y agoNo, if an overflow at 65535 occurs it would be to 0, not negative. signed 16-bit ints are -32768 to 32767, unsigned 16-bit ints are 0 to 65535
- maximilianroos 4y ago<a rare sighting of an int17>
- muzani 4y agoWhy allocate more bits than you ever need?
- rurban 4y agoarc is written in scheme, it never overflows. both mzscheme and racket have proper integers, it is not C.

- oh_sigh 4y agoWhy does dang do what he does? He's so close to ycombinator, inside of it in fact, but I assume he isn't getting mega rich like everyone else associated with the outfit. Am I wrong?
- Tialco 4y agoFalse. Dang has an incredible pulse on the conversation & zeitgeist of Hacker News. He has a keen sense of what the community's current group-think on various investment opportunities are, places a trade on the exact opposite outcome and has made hundreds of millions of dollars so far. In all seriousness though, I'll bet he could quit HN and then spin up a consulting service helping companies get to the top of HN (what you should post, when to post, etc.) and make a tidy 7 figure income that way.
- rytill 4y agoWhy would you assume that?
- WalterSear 4y agoThey got paid in karma points instead.
- _skel 4y agoWhat makes you think everyone is mega rich there? VC firms have a lot of employees making normal salaries just like every other company.
- muzani 4y agoI was 30+ when I learned that bank tellers don't make a lot of money despite handling lots of money every day.
- ThorsBane 4y agoIt may be for the enjoyment of it. If you have a great team or great community, you protect what you have as much as you can with what you can.
- splatzone 4y agoThank you @dang, you are the best forum moderator I’ve ever encountered and deserve all the praise you get
- Xeoncross 4y agoThank you Dang! Moderation has kept this place intelligent and curious.
- m3kw9 4y agoDo you get paid to do this?
- leetrout 4y agoYes he does
- cpursley 4y agoHe absolutely deserves it. And hopefully paid well.
- hammock 4y agoWhat do you believe is a fair salary for him?
- twelve40 4y agojeez who cares? would you like to go after that job or just asking for a friend?
- callalex 4y agoI think it’s a perfect question in the spirit of Hacker News. Edit to add: it’s also a perfect demonstration of the limits of a forum moderated by someone beholden to venture capitalists ;)
- twelve40 4y agoI think this question was nosy and rude. It's perfectly fine to discuss anonymized salaries, or aggregate salaries stats, or volunteer your own (after all, where else can we discuss that?), but why would you want to pry into a specific person's life, especially since he's basically doing public service for all of us here?
- 4y ago
- darig 4y ago[dead]
- subsubzero 4y agoCongrats Dang, you have done a wonderful job so far and moderate one of the most fantastic online communities out there. I am sure most of the job feels somewhat thankless but I want to let you know I(and many many other users on this site) appreciate your hard work and dedication.
- ghayes 4y agoMaybe a good time to link to the New Yorker article on Dan’s work at Hacker News: https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-silicon-valley/the-lonely-work-of-moderating-hacker-news https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-silicon-valley/th... Thanks again Dan for being so patient and building one of the best online communities ever to exist.

- walleeee 4y agoFrom the article: > “From our perspective, the big surprise is how little control we actually have. We have to play our cards very carefully and very wisely, or even that control will sort of evaporate,” Gackle said. “There’s often a strong wish to solve these contentious problems by changing the software, and, to the extent that we’ve tried things like that, we haven’t found it to work. What does seem to work better is personal interaction, over and over and over again, with individual users. That, case by case by case, seems to move the needle. But it’s very slow.” > “If we’re trying to change something deep, the ingredient is time,” Bell said. “Patience allows us to be ambitious—to imagine people being more kind to each other, for example. It sounds kind of crazy.” It might sound crazy but it seems to work. Thanks much Dan and Scott for all the time and effort.
- codeddesign 4y agoIf by “finest” you mean a Reddit mob mentality for tech, then yes I completely agree with this statement.
- muttantt 4y agoIt's incredible how little ambition a person can have when they're exposed to so much startup activity and all they want to do is moderate a forum and scold people for making jokes online.
- dang 4y agoI appreciate your point and mostly agree. I said no to the job offer repeatedly—who would want to moderate an internet forum? But eventually my startup ran out of money and I needed some. And after that I found reasons to keep doing it.
- givemeethekeys 4y agoThanks, Dang! One day I hope you'll write about your adventures in running this place.
- dang 4y agoThanks for that. I don't enjoy writing very much—I realized this on a walk with pg one time when he told me that for him, an unwritten essay is like "an uneaten piece of cake". I can't imagine feeling that way! I like writing songs, but usually get stuck partway through. Maybe I'll write a song about HN and not finish it :)
- schemescape 4y agoDoes he prefer to be called dang or Dan?
- selimthegrim 4y agoDang has always been very good about responding to emails in due time (even off the wall requests) and reaching out via emails too.
- nnx 4y ago65,535 karma points ought to be enough for anybody.
- m463 4y agoI think you mean 655360. 640k :)
- bitwize 4y agoWonder if it'll cap then. That should be enough for everybody.
- armchairhacker 4y agodang deserves way more than 65535. Angry corrupt reddit moderators have more!
- HaZeust 4y agoThe original quote from Gates was 640,000 - a six-figure number - but I still got a chuckle!
- 93po 4y agothanks for the hearty laugh!
- jimmySixDOF 4y agoDang gets 17bit Status !
- murat124 4y agoSpend it well.
- jtode 4y agoThis brings on the Window To Ultimate Power, whereby for the time between his first point after 65,535 and the point after that, anyone who creates a new account with 0 karma is instantly elevated to admin status. It's an imperfect system of power.
- outside1234 4y agoHopefully he's not using an u16 to store karma!
- hypertexthero 4y agoThe Amulet of Yendor, I mean, Y Combinator, should be bestowed upon Dang! Thank you for a wonderful website where I have learned so much for so many years!
- mattrighetti 4y agoI’ve been around for just a year or two but I can say that I’ve never seen a moderator so calm, moderate and thoughtful as dang. It’s nice to see that there’s still people like that out there.
- JadeNB 4y ago> I’ve never seen a moderator so calm, moderate and thoughtful as dang. In other words, you've never seen a moderate-r moderator.
- busterarm 4y agoI've hurled abuse at him AND questioned his integrity and not only did he not outright ban me but also he persisted in trying to get to the root at my issue to see if an improvement could be made. More than once. I still have issues with the community-at-large, but certainly not dang. He's someone thanklessly making the best of an impossible job to do.
- CogitoCogito 4y agoYes he's pretty patiently responded to all my emails questioning certain of his moderation decisions. I was very clear throughout that I did not (and still do not) agree with his reasoning on the specific points, but he's never retaliated or even ignored me. I don't think he's a perfect moderator, but he's definitely one of the much better ones.
- junon 4y agoSums up my experience too. Thank you Dang.
- startupsfail 4y agoI’ve recently started noticing another entity, with similar calm and moderating qualities. Which now makes me wonder where it had picked up its cool.
- roflyear 4y agoDang has his faults too. People shouldn't be idolized.
- rhacker 4y agoExactly 2100 left as of time of writing 4:56pm PT https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=dang https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=dang
- glandium 4y ago63k+ in slightly less than 16 years is an average of 4k a year. There are still 2k left, so "soon" (per the title) would be, assuming a linear progression, still in about 6 months... This might push a few people to give him some more karma than usual, but I think it's still not going to happen "soon".
- excalibur 4y agoWell I hope you brought a snack.
- nostromo 4y agoInteresting that he’s not listed on the top users list: https://news.ycombinator.com/leaders https://news.ycombinator.com/leaders
- skissane 4y agoI wonder why it does't display the number for the top 10? It isn't some kind of secret, you click on the username you see it.
- ceejayoz 4y agoTIL this exists. Gah.
- dang 4y agoIt's awful isn't it. I've been meaning to get rid of it for years. Or perhaps to augment it with all sorts of different leaderboardses. That would be more fun.
- tptacek 4y agoKill it with fire in the meantime.
- saagarjha 4y agoHey, let me get back my 69th spot first!
- n0tahacker 4y agoWhat kind of leaderbordses? Ratio character/upvotes? Leaderbord of flagged persons. Leaderbord of long discussions -> i.e. people responding in the same thread. Leaderbord of most flagged comments and people w/ most flagged. Leaderbord on people who use the word karma often.
- dang 4y agoI have no idea really. Maybe fastest growing karma over the last N days? who knows. Nothing to shame anybody though.
- rvz 4y agoAnd? Where does that get you? It is a pointless number in a database collected over decades that gains nothing. Even if anyone here got 69,420 karma points, it is still point-less. 69,420 Dogecoins would still be worth more than 69,420 HN karma points or even 374,000 HN karma points.
- fwlr 4y ago65,535 is a more interesting number than 69,420 as it is the maximum value of an unsigned 16-bit integer. It’s quite common for computer systems to display very odd behavior when a slowly-incrementing number eventually reaches the maximum value and overflows. While it’s unlikely that HN uses unsigned 16-bit integers to represent karma, it is true that higher karma values unlock more capabilities on HackerNews like the ability to upvote or downvote - this is enough to appeal to our sense of humour and get us imagining that some strange capability will be unlocked at 16 bit unsigned int overflow. Putting aside the overflow, if you got HN to pick three arbitrary karma milestones without communicating, they would probably coordinate on the 8bit, 16bit, and 32bit unsigned int maxes. Dang is the sole moderator for HackerNews and does amazing work in this role, so this karma milestone (while meaningless and worthless in itself) functions as a Schelling point to celebrate the effort he’s put in over the years and how much we appreciate his stewardship of the site.
- ModernMech 4y agoI can't even imagine the HN poster who is approaching 32bit unsinged int max.... that's more HN than I think anyone can handle.
- jacquesm 4y agoIt got a lot harder after 2^17 ;)
- dang 4y agoPeople like these things because they're pointless and get you nowhere. They're a sort of refuge where you can play for play's sake, and not feel strongarmed into producing "results".
- engineer_22 4y agoFor those wondering the significance That's 1111 1111 1111 1111 in binary 16 bits
- kolbe 4y agoAlso maybe with give dang zero karma if they store it as an uint16!
- raldi 4y agoI would not have any fear of superintelligent AI if it were trained solely on dang's writing.
- fastball 4y agoI think you meant this as a compliment of how nice dang is, but it also could be read as you thinking dang is an idiot.
- deleted 4y ago[deleted]
- xwdv 4y agoDang, Although no moderator is ever perfect, your approach to moderation has been the best I’ve seen yet, and I only wish other moderators could emulate your style. Best.
- bitwize 4y agoI'm coming up on 16,384 myself.
- deleted 4y ago[deleted]
- toomuchtodo 4y agoThanks Dan!
- lopkeny12ko 4y agoWhy is this notable? Is it because karma is represented as a 16 bit integer in the DB and it's about to overflow?
- mulmen 4y agoNot sure, probably just because it’s a significant hacker number. It’s not an overflow, many users have more karma than dang.
- Brian_K_White 4y agoWhy is a birthday notable? Practically all milestones are arbitrary. But humans like patterns so much they create them if they don't already exist, including counters with various periodicity. Questions like this baffle me. Have you really never met a human and really have no idea at all why they mark various periods along the sequence of anything that increments? Or did the particular number in this case not happen to ring any bells and you thought it was a random number? So the two answers are "because humans do that" and "the number is not random, and is especially not random to anyone involved with computers"
- elromulous 4y agoIs it stored in a short? Will it just roll over to 0? :P
- eddyg 4y agoReminder: Dang stands for “Dan G.” (seems like a lot of people don’t realize that!)
- tastysandwich 4y agoI must admit, for a very long time I thought he was Vietnamese, as Dang is a Vietnamese name. Interestingly, I'm finding it hard to shake that initial visual image, even though I know it's wrong. Brains are weird.
- xen2xen1 4y agoYes, same for many years.
- dsunds 4y agoSame. An unconscious bias buster. And truly, thank you. Rock solid. Steady hand.
- do_anh_tu 4y agoSpecially if you are a Vietnamese like me. Still see him as Đăng
- dang 4y agoIt would be my honor. But the origins of the name are (1) it's my first name plus initial; (2) it was my email address at my first job; and (3) it's what you say when you make a mistake, which I knew there would be a lot of. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7494093 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7494093 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7494440 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7494440 bonus credit to DonHopkins https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18513120 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18513120

- user3939382 4y agohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/65,535 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/65,535 For anyone wondering
- JoBrad 4y ago> 65535 is the integer after 65534 and before 65536. Thanks! /s
- Brajeshwar 4y agoThanks for this. I was feeling like that meme where the guy don't know something and at that point (everyone else seems to know), is too afraid to ask.
- chrisco255 4y agoHopefully they allocated more than 16 bits to karma points, or dang's karma will overflow. ;-D
- user3939382 4y agoWe'll need him to start posting unpopular comments to get his karma down so the site doesn't crash xD
- Reason077 4y agoWhat happens when the HN karma uint16 overflows? Does it roll silently around back to zero, or does the whole site crash and burn?
- mulmen 4y agoNothing, dozens of users have more karma than dang.
- boringg 4y agoWhat kind of loyalty benefits do you get at that point?
- jeron 4y agoRumor is Garry Tan will wine and dine you
- gabereiser 4y agoDo we have a Dang2K problem? Will we have to introduce "Dang" levels like dan levels of Go? Once you hit uint16_max you get a "dang". uint16_max dangs. I like this approach. Congrats Dang.
- michaelsshaw 4y agoNah man, just add exactly one more bit(somehow) and ezpz see ya in 2039
- mulmen 4y agoHe’s not the top karma user so no.
- gabereiser 4y agoI was giving superlatives and not being literal.
- mulmen 4y agoExcuse me sir this is HN.
- faefox 4y ago“Should be there in an hour,” he called back over his shoulder to Chuck. Then he added, in an afterthought: “Wonder if dang's reached 65,535 karma points. He was due about now.” Chuck didn’t reply, so George swung round in his saddle. He could just see Chuck’s face, a white oval turned toward the sky. “Look,” whispered Chuck, and George lifted his eyes to heaven. (There is always a last time for everything.) Overhead, without any fuss, the stars were going out.

- hanche 4y agoHaha, took me a while to catch the reference. It’s been a long time. Isaac Asimov, right? Edit: Oh, Arthur C. Clarke. Thanks, gopkarthik.

- FlyingSnake 4y agoFrom the brilliant short story: “One Billion Names Of God”. (if anyone didn’t get the reference.)
- jader201 4y agoFor those that have missed it before, here’s a good write-up on Daniel Gackle (dang): https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-silicon-valley/the-lonely-work-of-moderating-hacker-news https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-silicon-valley/th...
- jakzurr 4y agoI liked that article - didn't see it until late 2020, but it's from 2019. Thanks for posting the link.
- insane_dreamer 4y agotime to switch that karma counter to a 32-bit int ;)
- deleted 4y ago[deleted]
- jlmorton 4y agoJedberg currently has 65124
- yuppiemephisto 4y agoThank you for being pathologically decent to all. Sincerely.
- andrewstuart 4y agoCan he trade the points for business class flights to Bali?
- dang 4y agoI periodically cut the karma total on my account. Now I think I should set it to -1. (when (is (karma "dang") 65535) (add-karma "dang" -65536)) Edit (after skimming the thread): here I was thinking my joke was original...I forgot who I was dealing with here.
- ncr100 4y agoI was going to suggest that perhaps it was already rolling over. Maybe do a signed short, just for you instead?
- eru 4y agoJust make sure you don't use C anywhere in the stack, because overflowing signed integers is undefined behaviour.
- metadat 4y agoOr perhaps pin it at 1. Hilarity ensued. Edit: @AH4oFVbPT4f8: touché ;)
- AH4oFVbPT4f8 4y ago42 is the correct answer
- LoveMortuus 4y agoSince you're the moderator, is there any point in you having karma, especially since you've just admitted to partake in often karma-manipulations (joke). Maybe instead karma it could just say 'Moderator' or something funny like, 'A cog that keeps the HN turning in the right direction '. Or, do it prestige style, every time you loop around, you get +1 prestige. Glad to have you around and hope to meet you one day in the real world over a cup of tea! ^^
- olliej 4y agoWe must all downvote them aggressively to protect HN from overflowing a short int! :D
- deleted 4y ago[deleted]
- jesse__ 4y agodang, that's a lot of karma
- deleted 4y ago[deleted]
- brudgers 4y agoKarma is one indexed. Your cache is invalid.
- f38zf5vdt 4y agoEat it dang, you wouldn't let me poke fun at morons recommending horse dewormer for COVID19.
- dang 4y agoI don't know if this will help at all (probably not), but it's mostly about trying to avoid repetitive arguments. Things get less interesting as they repeat. You're still a valued user!
- f38zf5vdt 4y agoI know it is hard being a forum BDFL and it's expected that we will not always agree. Seeing a lot of unsubstantiated medical advice during the pandemic was just very hard for me, especially when hearing it from a "smart" place like HN. For better or worse HN tows the line on US-style free speech of letting bad but eloquent actors promulgate their ideas for fear of censoring the next Galileo.
- rendall 4y agoHere is one of the rare places you have the choice either to ignore your ideological opponents in favor of vastly more interesting things to read about; or to ask in a spirit of humility them to explain their thinking and have a good chance of getting a thoughtful answer.
- mdp2021 4y agoIf you have been impeded not being substantive, there still is hope for the world.
- hoofhearted 4y agoThank you for everything you do Daniel! You are a legend :) I contacted HN awhile back after reading PG’s essay on Schlep Blindness for the 18th time while noticing how janky Paul’s website had become. I was hoping to receive an answer as to why such powerful information wasn’t being displayed better. Instead, I received a reply back from Daniel which sparked laying the groundwork for a prototype. I’ve made a ton of progress, and I’m currently building out content for an upcoming release here on HN. I plan to post a SHOW HN for Elegant around May 27th, a significant date for Wordpress lol. Again, thank you for everything you do and have done Daniel!! Much appreciated!
- firatsarlar 4y agoSometimes I want to indulge, will they lend me some karma? whenever I talk - stop spoiling -, my karma is falling ( it is 5 currently ), If I get spoiled, I guess I can't even shut up anymore
- batrat 4y agomeanwhile me with 167 karma trying to make a living on this `forum`. Congrats Dang
- defaultcompany 4y agoNext stop 69,105. https://zork.fandom.com/wiki/69105 https://zork.fandom.com/wiki/69105
- KingOfCoders 4y ago16 bit should be enough for everybody.
- elevaet 4y agoDang, save some karma for the rest of us buddy! XD Thanks for all you do on here dang, it's one of the oases of the internet, thanks in a very large part to your work.
- Beldin 4y agoWhen I write this, DanG is at 63,770 karma. Granted, he is active and therefore accumulates karma faster than a mostly-lurker like me. Still: 200 points of karma would not be soon for me. I doubt my karma will grow with 200 points in 2023, actually. For me, more than 3 upvotes on one comment is a lot; about half of them don't get any vote (up nor down). Apart from the obvious (content not worthy of vote) it could also be due to timing: arriving late on popular posts (like this one); posting at times when the majority of HN is not active here (I'm posting from Europe). But I didn't think that effect would be huge... Anyway, point is that 200 karma is a lot in my experience. Either I'm doing this HN thing quite wrong, DanG is doing it superbly, or "soon" is quite a stretch. Perhaps all three simultaneously?
- megalodon 4y agoI think if you're doing HN for karma, you're doing it wrong.
- blackqueeriroh 4y agoI only started reading HN about six months ago, after spending the last ~5ish years hearing about how terrible and toxic a place it was and how I should just stay away. Well, I should’ve joined sooner, because I stay up way too late every night catching up on the world through HN. I’ve not found a more intriguing and interesting place on the internet, and I‘ve been online nearly every day of my life since 1993. This post is an incredible testament to the community that’s been built here, and to you, dang. Here’s to karma forever and a sincere thanks for all you do.
- john___matrix 4y agoHN has become somewhere I visit daily just because of that interesting variety and well moderated content. I'm far from a smart hacker and as a former web designer turned seller of Japanese knives, I just enjoy reading varied and interesting content even if I often don't understand it. It's the discussion below that I particularly enjoy even though I'm very much a lurker, the strong moderation and quality community feel adds massively to some complicated (for me) topics.
- ljf 4y agoThis is me also - in fact I generally come to the comments before I read the article and likely only read 1 in 4 articles - mainly enjoying the debate and insights here over the articles. It is one of the sites and start and end my day with - if I find myself using the site more than that I know I'm either bored or stressed and try to do something about it.
- CM30 4y agoIs there an actual cap to the karma score here? Will Dang's karma reset to 0 at that point, or stop increasing altogether? Regardless, congrats Dang. You've done a great job moderating Hacker News, and somehow keeping the peace all these years later.
- MasterYoda 4y agoWhat does karma do on hn? What "extra" do you get with higher karma and at which levels?
- dredmorbius 4y agoNot much. dang explains most of the privileges / thresholds in various comments over the years: Karma > 30 enables flagging and vouching privileges on posts and comments. <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14697607 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14697607> & <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24134548 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24134548>. Karma > 500 enables downvotes on comments. <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10224653 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10224653> (Posts cannot be downvoted.) Sufficiently negative karma causes an account's comments to be autokilled. Threshold not specified. <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16409493 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16409493> (Profiles can also be banned specifically by moderators, e.g., <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35426426 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35426426>.) The 100 profiles with the highest karma are listed on the leaders page: <https://news.ycombinator.com/leaders https://news.ycombinator.com/leaders>. Currently the 100th-ranked profile has 40,270 karma. There's no special privilege other than being listed, no member lounge or secret handshake. (You can figure out most of this by searching for dang's comments with appropriate keywords, e.g., "by:dang karma threshold", which turns up most of these. I'd also looked for "vouch", "downvote", and "flag" specifically. <https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&query=by%3Adang%20karma%20threshold&sort=byPopularity&type=comment https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que...>)
- gus_massa 4y agoI agree. There is an unofficial list of undocumented features maintained by minimaxir https://github.com/minimaxir/hacker-news-undocumented https://github.com/minimaxir/hacker-news-undocumented
- dredmorbius 4y agoThat's a really good list, thanks! (I'm familiar with ... all or nearly all of it, but a one-stop-shop for HN features and behaviours is quite useful.) The points= parameter is quite useful, and one I'd either not known or forgotten. E.g., posts with >100 votes: <https://news.ycombinator.com/over?points=100 https://news.ycombinator.com/over?points=100>
- dsfyu404ed 4y agoI have modded a subset of a niche hobby forum mostly populated by mild mannered middle aged men and small enough that most people have met a decent subset of the others and even there it's well known that doing your time as the enforcer will tank your like to dislike ratio. It really speaks to this community's desire to have an enforcer to praise that dang is so worshiped here. I can respect the restraint it takes for dang to, having been given such a blank check by the community, not run amuck with it.
