This is much better than the $15k Anybot. I can't figure why they put such a tiny screen on the Anybot. The face on the screen needs to be visible from a distance after all. Ideally the screen should be big enough to fit a face at 1:1 scale

I don't know why they say that: it's not impressive at all. Harvard has an application fee, Google doesn't. Anybody and everybody just submits a resume coz "it doesn't hurt". GP: if they get 1,000,000 applications and 4500 people join: that

That's a much more expensive system. If we configure them as: Macbook Pro 15: $1800 + $250 for 128GB SSD Macbook Air 13: $1300 + $100 for 4GB RAM Both machines will have the same size SSD, RAM, and same number of pixels, but the MBP will be

Even 2-3 years ago, Ruby+Rails were better than Python+Django/etc in terms of an ecosystem for webapps. Python had a better ecosystem than Ruby outside of webapps. I suspect this is still true though the gaps have narrowed a lot.

You're talking about DMCA safe harbor provisions, which would only apply if Grooveshark promptly took down content when requested by copyright owners. Further, Grooveshark isn't even claiming the service is for "user generated music". (YouT

How come the RIAA is okay with Grooveshark streaming any music at any time? Pandora has many more restrictions in their free version to qualify for "internet radio" licensing rates.

Like others have said, life is too short to work on bad ideas. This list isn't saying that these ideas are necessarily bad, but that they're too common. So you should think about what makes your idea sub-variant different enough; if you can

I don't get it. Why can't content owners just raise their prices for streaming? "Netflix pays about 15 cents a month for each subscriber, much less than the $4 to $5 a month that cable and satellite owners pay for access to Starz." Why give

Absolutely agreed that higher head count should not be a goal; less is more. But it's still a good second question to ask because: 1. It gives a sense of what stage the company is at. E.g. a 50-person company should be well past finding pro

We'll soon be cursing HTML5 for powering too much unnecessary animation on the web: ads, restaurant websites, etc. Adobe's tools will make it so easy, that people are bound to abuse their power. That abuse of power has been the main problem

General point about P/E and P/(E * G) ratios: - P is at a snapshot in time, but - E is over a period of time (can be short/long, past/predicted-future) - G (growth) is over a period of time (can be short/long, past/predicted-future) G is

"has falling profits (and) is trading at a generous 23.5 P/E today" 23.5 is not generous at all if the denominator is tiny (coz of the falling profits). P/E is actually pretty meaningless when E is small coz of low margins [1], since small
