First, there's nothing "toy: about Swift. It's a full featured language on par with Rust, Go, etc. That's some amazing CoolAid you've got there. But I'll grant you that it's on the same level with a bunc

I'm a professional developer, I don't want a new toy language. I'm buying a powerful laptop, I don't want cloud storage. I want the possibility to dual boot or share drives with other operating systems, I don't need

SD cards today come in 512GB, so with two of them you can casually move 50TB+ in three months. Everyone underestimates sneakernet.

The method of interaction is so different it would be nicer to advise people to not use a pointing device at all. I've always wanted to like them, but the track point is a poor man's trackball, and where do you see a trackball the

They dropped 90% of their valuation... It's rare for that to be malice. Most likely their costs overran them and they couldn't find funding.

Their statements don't support that conclusion though. The keyboard is thinner but okay, the ports are currently inconvenient but will be okay, the missing magsafe is kind of a problem, but with the right cabling will be okay... I see

So it's not really as good as the old one, except for the nice screen and it hasn't been dropped on the floor yet. I'll at least wait until the reports of logic board failure to see whether it also takes down the soldered-on

It's an ambiguous term. You're talking about a pyrotechnic system that can only be used once, but there are also electronic systems that are a part of daily driving. My point is that the 150ms happens before the person moves at al

Not "almost". It would make more sense to put a frivolous toy on the MacBook, and keep function keys and ports on the MBP.

No, they lock your seatbelt before you move. Modern ones do this during heavy braking: all you notice is that when you step on the brake your belt is already locked.
