There's this idea that the way you use a debugger is by stepping over line after line during execution. That's not usually the case. Setting conditional breakpoints, especially for things like break on all exceptions, or when the

Even as someone who is a DBA I say ORMs are great for most simple queries.

If you've mentored junior devs, talking to the AI in such a way that gives good results is pretty similar, so that may be why.

Interesting. I mean, it's still way less force than any average mechanical keyboard?

Really? Maybe it's a modern laptop thing but I also don't like the newer ones. There is almost no travel, it's so weird, and I broke TWO keyboards in a year after having the previous one for 5 years. I have to be super sensit

Yup. Although to be honest it probably doesn't need to be reactive.

That's interesting. I did a line by line rewrite of a large Django route to Quarkus and it was 10x faster, not using async or anything.

The last 10% you're referring to are nits. That's like the last 0.000001%. also, it could have fixed all these in like a minute by itself.

Getting Node installed is a blocker for some of their customers, evidently. It doesn't surprise me. If it holds back one mid sized enterprise customer, the rewrite is worth it.

I have the same observation. I've been able to improve things I just didn't have the energy to do for a while. But if you're gonna be lazy, it will multiply the bad.

You're more likely to meet the deadline and refactoring it later is easier, obviously depending on various factors...

I've always wondered how long until we reach this. If every pc can run models locally, with a given seed and prompt it could be the ultimate compression. It's also hilarious.

I understand the concern, but I have no skin in the game to lie here. Actually it's fairly risky to say what I've said, but it frustrates me. Also, I do not think they would slip up and lie in such a way.

It wasn't one candidate. Multiple were turned away to wait for someone to fill the diversity quota. It took several months.

You said that my personal anecdotes don't matter while bringing up your personal anecdotes. I've personally never seen racism against Latinos or blacks during hiring. Probably the the most diverse place I worked at had no such quo

I've literally been in meetings were managers said they couldn't hire someone because they weren't a minority. (edit: also to clarify I think what the Trump admin is doing - bribing to take a different political stance - and

You don't need to only render visible rows. There are only 400. You just insert them into the Dom and that's it.

How come scrolling the table lags on my $700 phone? You can render tens of thousands of rows at once without lag, something is wrong.

The question is worded weird for fun. One is a string slice (like char*) and one is String or &String, which is closer to an object.

I had a pentium 1 laptop in like 2007, running NetBSD. One time it crashed and the screen filled with ASCII smiley faces. Still my favorite crash to date.

I like to set timers. I use the taskbar timer in xfce to set it to say 30mins, and then I work on getting something done in that time. It works really well. Not sure if this has a common name. This was really helpful when I redid the FastCo
