I have to quibble with blazing fast. What was the resolution on an A3000 or whatever. Pretty low. My recall was the anti-aliased text rendering was technically impressive, but practically less-so due to low-resolution. A SUN or Mac was quit

Just had a quick read though that paper, and it doesn't really look like the same thing. This technique treats a pixel as a unit circle, coloring it according to its length of intersection, along multiple axes, with a glyph simply desc

Here's my experience on my local devices: * Quad i7 16 GBytes GTX 970 OSX FFox - perfectly smooth * iPhone 6s+ - very smooth * Nexus 6p - slightly jumpy / laggy but still impressive * Lumia 640 Windows Phone 10 - dFdx un

Sorry, I simply haven't been able to find them. However, the upshot was that in my FemCal app, loading several months of entered fertility cycles went from 100's-1000's of milliseconds to just a few 100's. The overall sp

Facebook needs to stop a homegrown Facebook alternative arising in India. They need to stop it now, by smothering it in the crib, redirecting its potential future users into a Facebook-curated walled-garden. Growth is required for Facebook,

This is a great point. I do love sqlite, it really is awesome, but you had better need what it provides, since you are taking a 50x performance hit versus simply dumping an object tree to a binary file. If anyone is interested, I could tr

My iPhone apps I created from 2009 - 2011 still provide a small income typically around $20 - $40 per month. Back in the day FemCal alone was doing $1500+ per month, with me 'full-time' on promoting and supporting it, but with lit

Wow, terrifying. This is kinda similar to why I use SuperDuper to image my Mac, instead of trusting Time Machine. I do love Apple, but there's a few wrinkles sometimes.

I think this pretty much applies to anyone who has to talk to people, and get things done. I do tech support of complex software for a living, and if something is not solved on a call, then the best way to leave the call gracefully is to it

I completely agree and have a solid anecdote. Summer electricity bill in Texas for my previous 1600 sqft house, about $100-$150 month for cooling from Texas ambient to 74 F. For our new 3200 sq ft house, we cool to 73 F, for the same cost!!
