I would much prefer people know the scale of these numbers than know big O notation. The number of times I've seen big O used as a hammer because everything looks like a nail can be frustrating. This is doubly true on embedded systems

Agreed, as a Pebble and now Garmin owner the article seemed to gloss over the latter despite it having a fairly rich feature set.

Population x Fatality Rate will tell you how much it "costs" to achieve herd immunity. That also doesn't take into account long term impacts that are not fatal.

What makes Google unique here? I can think of many other companies who have similar scale or even larger incentives for abuse but never seem to fail to engage to the same degree as Google does.

Oh yeah, not endorsing law breaking in any way or form, following the laws is very much a think everyone should be doing(for the communal reasons you called out among others). Gatekeeping is holding up one aspect of the community as more va

I'd ask that rather than assuming malicious intent, give your comment another read from a different perspective and see if you can understand how someone might see it as gatekeeping. (If you kept the first sentence but dropped the last

The magic of ham radio is it can be whatever you want it to be. You might want to gatekeep a bit less and let people enjoy what aspects of radio they find interesting.

Horsepower isn't everything, usually cost and power consumption come first in SoC selection followed by feature set(of which your GPU is one part of a larger picture). If you want to really succeed in the SoC space(which is where Arm h

Fun little fact: Adreno as an anagram of Radeon. Honestly I really don't see the Geforce play. Nvidia tried it with Tegra and failed pretty miserably. Mali and Adreno pretty much cornered the market from that era(with PowerVR pivoting

Depends on what game you're trying to build and if the engine is tuned to that use case. The needs of an open world vs corridor vs highly instanced simulation will drive a lot of the core design of an engine in different directions.

shared_ptr certainly isn't, last I looked at it there was some significant performance overhead since it's required to be thread safe.

I've used a Ford 1500 to move ~500lb round bales and it was on the edge of being safe. Even with a ~800lb implement on the back you're really pushing the capability of that machine. I don't know if I'd touch round bales

Yup, most of the usage for our CUT is pretty bursty. Longest usage is mowing for ~3 hours. Most CUTs are pretty low on the HP side of things(our's is only 47hp), it's more about weight and gearing.

Yeah, I've been using no_std for this use case and pretty happy with it. If you want a full blown container you can use heapless, building a custom container is really straightforward and requires a minimal amount of unsafe.
