On a console every 1mb of binary is one less mb for assets. We ran LTCG on every game I shipped.

Yup, instead of DRY I'm a big fan of WET, Write Everything Twice. Third time? Maybe consider a refactor at that point.

Low and high explosives are a very specific thing relating to how they behave in a compressed spaces. If you've ever done model rocketry you're restricted to low explosives for both motors and ejection charges, at least in the US.

It's SRAM vs DRAM not the speed of light. Go take a look a DRAM CAS values as clock speeds have increased. The ns/fetch has stayed pretty static(~10ns) since DDR first showed up. There's been slight improvements but nothing l

You have to factor in the 1.5x overtime that's standard on hourly. I went back and did the numbers, it was closer to $6hr but well below minimum wage for a dev position. From the little bit of salaries I heard art, design and test had

The game industry as a whole was pretty fucked when I left. I remember doing the 40hr+1.5x overtime calculation and realizing that if I wasn't salaried I'd be making $4/hr with the mandatory hours we were working(70-90 hrs&#x

It's listed as one of the more common[1] hypergolic propellants with LOX, pyrophoric is pretty much a superset of hypergolic(just that earth air brings the oxidizer "for free"). [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wi

Reading about how toxic thruster fuel is was a real eye opener for me, bunch of god damn idiots in those boats. If I recall right the SR-71 used similar propellants to get the afterburners lit which made fueling... interesting.

Yup, I've got a small little rust component that translates a couple industrial sensors on modbus + rtl_r443 over to an influx database and it's been happily running along for a few months now.

This covers dead-reckoning which is super interesting and tends to lead to designs where you "predict" things since that's easier to design for than reaction based game models with latency. The other really common one is &quo

Remove autopilot from a Model S and it's still a hell of a car. Just from a pure driving dynamics a mechanical engine can't touch a VFD in terms of power dynamics and range(which is also why Diesel-Electric locomotives use them).
