When Apple follows standards they are a few steps ahead, and when they sidetrack them in favour of an non-standardized tech they are still thinking a few steps ahead? Am I the only one who thinks Apple is treated slightly differently when

I really do hate these "Flash hate-bait" narratives because it only regresses progress in making the video tag viable . Which is, above all else, the real goal. HTML5 video does not support any sort of RTMP streaming. This is an undeniably

> RTMP: Of course HTML5 isn't built with a technology that was developed for Flash. Likewise, a similar protocol could have been created for HTML5 video. It would be hard to argue that the web doesn't need some sort of persistence for

While quiet obvious to some, I think it's worth mentioning that Adobe was never against HTML5, or implicitly worried about Flash because of it. Adobe always tried to make a case for Flash based on a few points that some refuse to grasp. HTM

While it might be a little FUD-ish, I don't think it's completely unfounded. Banning Flash from iOS devices could be seen as banning the "App"-space competition at the door. Apple talks a lot about "the open web" but consistently pushes App

In this case maybe. Adobe, just like any entity, deserves a true projection. If I sat on HN bashing Adobe I'd have much higher karma. Good thing I'm not here for karma.

It's common to find a 70+ year old electrician or plumber because those trades have had high demand for generations, ours is still young enough where stereotypes still have some hold over coming reality.

It doesn't, though. I just installed Adobe Reader 9 and it clearly asked me about Air. These FUD statements don't deserve any respect.

Or not pay thousands and just compile for free using a handful of OS tools that work just as good, perhaps even better. (ie: http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/ )

Having a very similar childhood as the author, I'd have to agree with him and you. Bullying tends to stem from low self-esteem, but we must try to consider that some people aren't looking for the same type of acclamation. Warriors, hunters,

~19 employees in this warehouse-like office space? Seems to be a little less than indulgent. Not the sort of office space you'd expect after hearing countless "lean & trim company" narratives.

Are there competent programmers who could solve puzzles such as these and yet dread going to work every day? Passion is thinking of better code while you're in the shower, or getting so excited about a new idea that you can't sleep. Findi

I wonder if this will have a psychological effect on using other dev. environments for Apps. It almost paints a Flash-compiled app as being "legacy" when a company opens it up after demonstrating it's case against alternatives.

As a Canadian, I wish I could say we're as far ahead as this dated article allures to. As it stands today, we have telecommunication (mobile, land, data) rates and deployment equivalent to third-world countries.
