I wrote a Mac utility "app" to display currently playing track notifications using the system notification pop-ups a ways before Spotify or Apple Music had it. People had previously done it with Growl, but I was no longer using th

About ten years ago I was attending San Jose State University and really needed to find a 1 bedroom apartment at a decent price (lol) in the downtown SJ area since I would no longer be living in the dorms. I tried a few different ways of fi

Was it Amazon? When I interviewed just before COVID, I was fed hook, line, and sinker that the position was for a headcount in San Francisco on a new team. Recruiter "confirmed" multiple times for me that it was an SFO location te

This happened to me recently. The internet went out, but I had some tv shows I wanted to watch already downloaded and indexed by my Plex server. So I tried loading Plex locally from my phone and it kept trying to "phone home" to h

Most recently, I've even had interviewers ask me questions straight from Leetcode, who are unable to code the solution themselves. For instance, for one problem I was given in this way, I had one small logic implementation bug, about o

It's been interesting to watch the sort of "transformation" the industry goes through, even just since I started college back in 2011. For 5-7 years "Cracking the Coding Interview" was all the rage, practically ever

Not mine. I have a "dumb" 1080p Vizio TV. It was quite budget at the time I bought it, 5 or so years ago. But it does everything I need it for quite well, no problems. I'd like to upgrade to a TV with 4K and HDR eventually bu

Do you see yourselves as adding light novels eventually? I read a couple series, like _Sword Art Online: Progressive_, and usually need to buy each new official translation. They aren't expensive, but I would much prefer a subscription

I think the original reason I posed the question is because I used Okta a while back for one org and IIRC there was no password reset available to me; I had to contact one of our IT admin to do it.

What if they have access to some users' emails and then can selectively fire off password reset emails to them? It's probably less likely, but could be a vector.

I bought my first one a year ago (Keychron K2 v2) and I've mostly enjoyed it. It has both USB and BT output, which is nice. Except, I just recently found a really terrible bug. If I disconnect the USB and switch to BT mode and the batt

This is such an interesting response. I have a Subaru BRZ (basically the same car as the FRS). I've participated in FT86 (BRZ/FRS) communities for years now and the constant factor in crashed ones is almost always the age/imm

If I use a Twitter list, I don't get ads or recommended tweets/accounts (so far anyway). I believe there's a similar feature for Facebook, but I mostly use that for Messenger these days, not looking at a feed.

Funny you mention the delivery thing. When I was in the store, I checked the website for a couple of tables. According to the site neither were deliverable to me (in a major city, FWIW). So I went up to a couple salespeople and asked why. T

Didn't work for my usecase there. I specifically went to check out a table in person. Not necessarily buy it. It was only on display in a showroom, not the warehouse section.

It's mind-boggling that people in here think some fanfare is unnecessary. People _love_ Taco Bell in America. Why? Because it's healthy? No. Because you get a large portion of food? No. Because you know the filling is even? Nope.

Generally what I've noticed on the Peninsula (like driving 280 N/S or sometimes 101) and the South Bay is that people drive like they should be in the left-most lane the farther away they are from their exit. This means regardless
