How long ago did you experience those issues? I still have some time to go until I launch whatever it is I decide to build. I hope the Mono team finds a solution for them eventually.

That's what I usually do, but this time is different. This marks the end of HN as I knew it (for me anyway), and I felt the need to express how I feel about it. You don't just lose something you cherish and stay quiet, that's a very difficu

I can't believe this is on the front page and at number 2. Hacker News has officially jumped the shark for me. Yes, down vote me all you want.

Because the bible says that you cannot take anything that alters your behavior or your body, something like that, and that has been inherited through centuries even if it's not cited as the main reason, but it is the source of the war on

Another geek complaining about non-standard plug-ins. I really wish HN had categories so I could filter out repetitive rants. If the author didn't install Silverlight and watched the video he wanted, that is pure ideology borderline religio

The camera is one of those things that makes you say "why didn't I think of that first." I was kinda allergic to all the tablet hype that is surrounding the tech scene lately, but this really makes me consider one. I want one, actually.

I'm not sure what the problem is either. I also have complete control over my privacy settings, but it seems you can't say that in this particular topic because the army of group-thinkers will down-vote you (read: censor your comment) to ob

Why is he being down-voted? (-3 at the moment) Oh right, "we don't like his comment, let's get rid of it." Jesus, people, behave. He's making his case based on his knowledge of the situation and he's doing so in an educated manner. Me, pers

I don't think he offended Yegge in any way. It's a valid point to make when someone goes to make inaccurate predictions: you have to take that into consideration for future articles. But well, this is Hacker News these days.

I think he nailed it with prediction #7. Many of you are saying he was late because the iPhone was released in 2007. Well, the iPhone SDK wasn't released until 2008 and the industry didn't step up to the game until 2009 when a bunch of Andr

The engadget live feed is pathetic. They're saying "Wow" to any regular feature that doesn't really have anything impressive. What is their agenda here?

Americans complain just too much about their mobile carriers. You guys need to come to peace with the fact that you are below East Asia and Western Europe in mobile services and internet speeds. You are still better positioned than 80% of t

When I was reading this I was wondering how is this Hacker News material. This is the kind of thing I expect to find on the Reddit frontpage.

Not only that, but anything released by Apple or Google is omg awesome and fantastic, and anything released by Microsoft is another me-too product, no matter how innovative it actually is.

The Zune is not an indication of "how well they'll stack up," because by the time they released the Zune, Apple had already sold about 100 million iPods. This time they're both starting from zero, so it'll be very interesting to see who g

Yes, I understand your point and his point. But in some parts he talks as if we were flooded by one-purpose devices like Amazon's kindle, and Apple was going to be our savior by introducing a general-purpose tablet. And that's not the case,

I think the author's writing skills are top-notch. The article was entertaining to read from the beginning to the end and he looks like a smart guy with great ideas. That said, I don't think his analysis is that great in this particular art

Sorry for the meta-comment but why does this article has so many votes? I read the whole thing and it's nothing more than pure speculation and "analisys." What I took from it is that The Apple Tablet will be a full working device like the m

Keep in mind that US defense contrctors are probably the most expensive in the world. How much does a Lockheed Martin engineer makes versus a Chinese contractor engineer? The US spending 40-50% of the world's defense budget doesn't say much
