On a tangent to this, I do 6-8 hours a week "volunteer" work with a friend of mine who is an audio engineer. (It's actually paid work, but I've never raised my price over the past 14 years from when I was 18, so it'

PowerShell is an extremely nice, cross-platform option. Most people are discouraged by the overly long command names (get-childitem and the like), but there are 3 letter aliases (e.g gci) for a lot of the common ones and its really nice.

US companies are integrating fairly public "spy chips" in the form of Intel's ME and AMD's PSP. These have very little/no benefit for the average consumer.

I like Adam Savage's approach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVnoTrJNAtc which can be summarised as "future me is really happy when past me takes care of their crap." Thinking about what the future will be

This seems like an exceptionally bad idea. Even if if just used it for my blog, an attacker can craft a URL which renders obscene content ("Hitler did nothing wrong"), then scatter that link everywhere on the web and get it crawle

Do you connect with a 1200 baud acoustic coupler modem or are you average person who uses a fibre connection and off-the-shelf router? Do you take a horse and cart to work or are you an average person who drives a car or catches the train?

I purchased the board game "Cuba" from someone on gumtree (we're both Australian) and paid them with Paypal. For the transaction note I wrote "Cuba" and my (Australian) address. This is what I received from Paypal:

Stride's WYSIWG editor is really unpleasant (and had several showstopping bugs which they're only just ironing out). I have an open ticket to have a profile option to disable it, but ...crickets.

This is utter nonsense. Why's it my mum's fault for buying one of these? Also, ignoring the backdoor and focusing on the other exploits, fairly popular open source software has had similar exploits.
