I mean sure HDR is impressive, but for me it's always like 3D movies.. nice for 5 minutes and then you see the flaws. Dimming zones are a really crappy way to get around the fundamental display tech limitation like you said. But OLED h

My take on having used quite a variety of displays: 1440p with a high (120, 144 etc) refresh rate is the way to go. With 4K you can lose a lot of performance especially since they are often paired with integrated graphics. Also what's

I'm having honest problems parsing this comment. What's WP and what's a lolcow?

As a counterpoint, look at what happens with the "it's okay to be white" posters. Completely benign, commonsense and not a reaction to something. And yet...

I cannot attest to that at all. A good portion of all highly voted submissions were against the rules in the last two weeks and not tech at all.

Ah yes what fun you can have with unlimited public EU money

I've discovered some pretty neat projects from the trending page and the "Explore repositories" thing on the main page. So for me that works well unlike most recommendation things.

Compared to the billions to potentially trillions of euros Germany will be paying for the lockdown and the other EU states this is basically nothing I think.

No critical comments of these topics is allowed on this site. It's the only tool that is left.

Even in the lines you quoted there were several lies. But you know that topic is verboten for people like me. I'll leave it at that.

This is not a big opinion piece or a report on a grand problem of society. It's about a singular event that happened on Sunday. In fact the BBC did never report on that actual event itself (if their site search works correct at least).

True! It wasn't like that in the beginning though - this story has been purged everywhere. And this reporting in particular is saddening. Journalism is supposed to be about facts and not feelings. This article does hardly contain any r

It's disgusting that the "article" doesn't even mention what this is all about. It's not like there are suddenly bad people swarming an innocent sub and "troll" it. There was an event happening in Ireland

I genuinely think you have it backwards. The SNR went down significantly during the last weeks - which is understandable with events that dominate the news cycle so much. But HN was absolutely flooded with feel-good, no-content articles abo

No the sub doesn't exist anymore. There was an admin takeover and they left it in this odd "technically existing" state for some reason. TD is gone - you can look for stories about it some months ago.

It's really not - look at the dates. There was some bullshit going on, there is nothing left.

TD is gone for a long time now. r/protectandserve is a reddit for police officers as far as I know? Not sure what's controversial.

I really don't know what they want anymore. How much cleaner than Reddit does it get? There is nothing left that is even remotely controversial. I'm so confused. The way he said BLACK candidate also feels really weird. We get it -

Well newspaper companies are kind of special, no? They very often have vocal and official slants. But I think it's questionable if beverage or kitchen appliance companies should align themselves with a political party. That will by def

There was a time when companies were just companies and politically neutral. That was truly a good time. If they play this misguided game I think it's only fair to punish them. It's just baffling that even the giants do this - Coc
