I personally use CLion for all my C/C++ work, even preferring it over Visual Studio proper. It handles the environments, builds, build systems, etc for me a so I can focus on programming. VSCode is what I use for everything else (mostl

I've seen Dhall mentioned on HN front page twice this past week. Is anyone here using it regularly? How has your experience been?

And the interview process was just as irrelevant to your actual success in the position as it still is today.

I'm kind of amazed Angular is still around. I hadn't heard of it for what feels like years at this point & assumed it was already in the graveyard. My company tried using it back in 2017ish but it was a pain for us at the time

I’m supposed to be encouraged to stay in the field when I can look forward to an acceptable wage in 40 years? Do I have that right?

I come here mostly for the comment section. Often I'll find some genuine nuggets of wisdom & occasionally nuanced discussions (but this is getting rarer). I also use HN to aggregate links better than I would be able to on Google&#x

I’m a big fan of pop_os & have been using it for years, but being limited to 16gb of memory is probably a dealbreaker

I regularly swap between left and right shift depending on which opposite side of the keyboard the key I need to modify is (does that make sense?). However, I strictly use left ctrl (replacing left caps-lock) and left alt.

I agree with your general sentiment but as a motorcyclist myself, what can I do to ensure that the cars surrounding me (windows up, listening to music, carrying out conversation, probably fiddling with a phone) are aware of my existence wit

I also intend to deploy some new services on render (having previously used Heroku). I was debating between render & fly, which I've also had my eye on and may still try for something else in the future.

How does render compare to Netlify? They seem fairly similar.

Ah I wasn’t being clear, you’re actually correct when it comes to ML (which we use from time to time). My comment on the lack of manpower was mostly in regards to pure programming output or research efforts.

I’ll definitely give this a try, it arrived exactly when I was exploring other visualization middleware. Also it’s a small thing but it was refreshing to see, in the use-cases section, the developer refer to Godot as a better fit for someon

Unfortunately there are extensions & features that (last I checked) only work in VSCode but not VSCodium. 'Remote Development' extension was the one I found out was apparently closed source.

I’m definitely a minority in this regard, but I completely support increasing the price of games across the board. Development is more expensive & involves more people now. The cost of games has been $60 for what, 15 years? One addition

I’ve not taken a gap year or heard of anybody else that has either. My peers and I are all 1-2 jobs out of college, and we’re all terrified of having a gap in our resume. Apparently this concern is overblown, but we all seem to have learned
