I find a lot of "general" or "SDE" jobs as a fullstack python dev but I also see quite a few pretty good java positions pop up all the time. At least they look good to me. Maybe I'm out of the loop but I agree wit

I actually talked to Sam for a bit in the "early days" and he always seemed like an OK guy. Approachable and "honest" which makes this all the worse... I kept asking "why start an exchange when you're killing

I always carry some extra clothes, water, dry food and a first aid kit. I also have a dolly and other “big items” which have come in useful, but ofc not really as needed as the other stuff. Backpack for laptop and other things, sure. At le

I’ve never taken a bus, always a metro. It’s not “bad” but again, so many reasons I just prefer a car. All my stuff is in it, I can eat in peace, cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Of course, with the drawback of you have to opera

I always avoid public transport if possible. If you ever work retail, you'll know dealing with the public is generally not fun. Lots of people looking to pick fights by being obnoxious on purpose and no authority to turn to (at least

At first I thought this wasn't a huge deal... it would be like having a bad experience with twitter moderation but now I'm thinking... in that case, you'll have to "choose" your first server pretty carefully then? M

Thanks for this explanation. I think I have the best understanding of it, that I've ever had. I think with this, I could even do a TL;DR for non tech people. I guess my only question now is, what if instance "collude" or yo

Not a good reason to have a bad UX, tho. I say that as someone that feels defeated every time I see a new issue in my inbox about the FOSS I made. It's fine if things are clunky but if someone consistently runs into problems, they'

What happened with Boring Company? https://twitter.com/boringcompany/status/1588685426088628225 I honestly don't know much about those ventures at all. Seems they just started testing though?

Makes sense. I never really subscribed to hashtags in the first place. Always seem to be filled with spam. On twitter, I just follow a few interesting people and they'll usually tweet or retweet interesting stuff, so it works out.

Makes a lot of sense. So if someone said "look at this cool OSS I created." You would be able to comment and see other's comments like a typical comment section?

So if user A signs up on instance A, they can follow instance B and interact with users on instance B? Effectively, if you follow enough instances, it would look/feel like twitter? In the sense that you get a feed of interesting conten

Exactly. Think of how many products succeed just because they're "easier" than the alternatives. You could probably be up and tweeting in just a few minutes. You could be posting or commenting on reddit (provided the sub) i

Big tech layoffs are never really "good." Even in the way you're describing. Its a nice notion... but I imagine most of the laid off workers will be doing the same thing, just at another company.

This is my issue too. Politicians have seemed to abandoned reality. Why not though, its what they get rewarded for. Politician X makes a claim that would be torn to shreds in a setting where people are at least trying to be honest. Polit
