+1 to the slow and eventual consolidation of power into a few hands -- this sounds like an awesome idea, in theory, until you put it into practice. This is exactly what happened at Digg and was a huge reason for it's downfall -- combat

For what it's worth, PayPal is embracing the shit out of BT acquisition - really see that as the north star for our merchant integration story. Everyone knows they know what they are doing and only want to help, they don't want to

This, 100x this. You and your team don't just have to build an understanding of the code (e.g. frameworks, patterns, DB's, etc.) but the app itself so you can truly understand it's purpose. Your rewrite won't (hopefully?

Oh, no I wasn't implying they were going to launch a campaign of evil and despair against their users :) Regardless, for an online backup/sync service, I think a very compassionate ramp-down plan is on the order of 6 months with a

Did the timelines seem awfully aggressive to anyone? (June 1 service stops, July 31 all data is erased) For a service that we were suppose to be syncing our lives to, that seems like a really abrupt, customer unfriendly ramp-down. I would h

The conclusion alluded to one of the most interesting parts of how Jaguar may age -- summarized horribly -- we've never had a SOC shared between consoles (XB1/PS4), desktops, laptops and tablets so closely that as the SOC shrinks

Just to put this in perspective, Qatar won the bid in Dec of 2010 -- they are _literally_ killing 1 worker a day building this. I spent some time in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and saw this "big money, big building" craze first hand... it

Everyone seems pretty focused on the pricing - I thought the inclusion of an asset-marketplace directly into the editing environment was brilliant. You could imagine Adobe following suit very shortly here withs something similar and invalid

I've actually wondered this for years - why reddit let imgur take that lead and run with it, but to some of the other replies I guess it does come down to cost. Reddit doesn't have a big budget and until last year I think it was j

@judk's comment should be higher... it is the unfortunate cycle of ad-supported startups. imgur grew out of the garden that is reddit; it was suppose to replace all those other crappy hosting services. It's been known for a while
