The CA map is interesting too, because it has the cleanup sites with some information on them: http://geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov/map/default.asp?global_... It seems like gas stations typically leak a lot of gasoline into the ground. I

Is this nVidia's driver? Or some random code that can draw a solid color triangle on a tegra? Where's the shader compiler backend and the rest of libGLESv2?

Rdio is a great example as they currently don't use any form of DRM (if you use the Chrome UA and don't have flash player installed). So I could download songs from Rdio and save them away, but I've never bothered because I want to listen f

Presumably this downloads new executable code (or bytecode) rather than data. I could put up a shell app which does the same thing to download exploits after a while. This is why Apple has the "don't download code" rule (and why they had a

But you don't need SurfaceFlinger to get multicontext GL out of Android GPU drivers... You only need to use the "gralloc" buffer allocator and give EGL an address from there and you can start rendering to the framebuffer or offscreen. Surfa

Amazing it has 256MB RAM considering how stingy they are on RAM in iOS devices -- 256 was all the original iPad had, and the experience suffered from it (esp after the iPad2 became popular and apps got "more relaxed" on memory consumption).

Actually it looks like URLs do go to google's suggestion service as you type into Chrome's URL box. I tried typing " http://then and it suggested a UPS package URL and "thenicestplaceontheinter.net". I've not been to either of those pages

One can buy Android devices (like the MK802) which cost $50 and are similarly sized with similar functionality. Doesn't seem like a big stretch to build an image for one which just connects to a remote desktop.

It is so incredibly depressing to watch Amazon blow an amazing opportunity with shitty software. They can outsell anyone, but the Kindle Fire OS work is dreadful -- if they could manage to build a competitive UI then they could probably mar

The method they use for vectorization is cool (vectorizing Y, U and V independently) and also illustrates why subsampling UV yields such good results (for standard raster-based codecs). Ultimately however vectors are far more expensive to r

Not really, all of the shaders come from the Android View System and are pretty simple (could probably have been done with the fixed function pipeline). In general, you're right, you can "shade too hard" (consuming too many GPU cycles) and/

I'm sure Samsung would do it if they had a modicum of competence in platform building -- see Bada, Tizen, SLP (Samsung Linux Platform). They've spent fortunes on these and gotten nowhere; they know what's going on and are completely unable
