Yes it's an independent project, but a pretty neat way of co-opting the hidden service protocol for instant messaging.

Assuming that there are no security bugs in handling the incoming data, it's apparently as secure as communication with Tor hidden services. Each chat user self-hosts a hidden service, with messages between users being sent via a symme

In the meantime, TorChat ( https://github.com/prof7bit/TorChat ) is usable. Though it doesn't fit the specification of the linked project as it uses its own custom protocol based around Tor hidden services, rather t

This can run offline if you download all the files, as all the computation is done client-side. However due to the use of require.js ( http://requirejs.org ) the script files aren't directly linked from the main page. You nee

I'm not sure if that's such a good idea. Instead of just having your ISP able to sniff or MITM your web traffic, now you may have some random exit node operator doing the same - likely with more malicious intent than your Internet

Is this really that important? If you don't like it, don't use it (it being Amazon's video streaming service). There are plenty of competing services if you have a burning need to watch films via the Internet. No need to thro

One of the stated goals was being able to build the firmware from source. As firmware can be considered an integral part of the physical objects that constitute the hardware, I'd say that qualifies it as being an open source laptop.

Yes, I had severely underestimated the amount of bad traffic that would pass through a Tor exit node.

The difference is that when we say that the Earth revolves around the Sun, it's implied that we are using an inertial reference frame. Yes, you can take whichever reference point you want, but it's not the default assumption.

The truth of Dropbox's acquisition of dropbox.com is a little murkier than them just buying it - it appears that they initiated this by suing the previous owner, who had owned the domain since 1995: http://law.justia.com
