- pbsd 13y agoThis has nothing to do with VDM; the emulator is only accessible from kernel mode (it's in HAL.dll) and is not meant to be used by usermode applications. See [1,2]. - 4ad 13y agoThere's also a similar emulator in X, that allows drivers for PC-specific graphics cards that used x86 initialisation in their video BIOS to work on non-x86 platforms, like SPARC.
- pgeorgi 13y agoWe use that same emulator (x86emu) in coreboot to isolate the VGABIOS from real hardware (except the video card, of course)
