Also, the capital of a major economic/military power will usually attract the ambitious people from the surrounding regions. Its equivalent to saying "wow, so many famous actors lived in Hollywood!"

Theres been some research in modern day Bangladesh that seems to suggest that a presence of a garment factory in a village (aka sweatshop to some people) is associated with higher educational attainment for women and school completion rates

I would be wary of the 95% figure. Another user on HN (who currently works at FAANG) pointed out that he took the test used in that survey and failed. The interface for the coding test was not reflective of how actual software development i

The oldest artefacts/ruins of Dwarka can be reliably dated to 1500 BC, which is well past the age of city building in that region. Most of the ruins are from the Vedic age (although it may have been a Harappan city before). The article

So in 4000 years, archeologists digging up the the Midwest will theorize that Ohio valley was the center of a vast industrial society. They will theorize that it may be linked to a settlement that was known in ancient times as the mythical

That makes sense. Hampi and Angkor had a lot of buildings made out of stone. But what about Patna and Mathura? Ancient primary source accounts mention lots of buildings made out of stone.

I always wondered how you go from a thriving city to an 'ancient ruin'. A lot of cities in India have been continuously occupied for over 2000 years (Kalyan, Ujjain, Bharuch, Patna). A lot of them don't have any obvious ruins

I don't think thats really a contradiction. As far as science/engineering professions go, I think doctors tend to be the most religious.

Its insane the level of generalizations about Indians/Asians that are tolerated in "woke" spaces like this forum. If someone made a similar comment about black people, they would be excoriated (and rightfully so). As an India
