You must have never had to transfer WhatsApp on a new carrier and find out that the carrier MITMs your SMS and you cannot activate that way and you have to ask your carrier for that. Not common in the US or western EU I suppose, but there a

And I think not, because in countries with much stronger employee protections it works out pretty well. The biggest 'downside' is a smaller concentration of power and wealth because the risk/reward calculation is different. B

The free market is a joke and big companies will always win against individuals unless they get protected by law. They have more people, more time and more money. If you want to be an employer, you're the one taking the risks. Don'

Regarding swap partitions: on virtualised systems (like clouds) this is rather easy since you can just edit EBS/LUN/whatever on the provider side, grow, shrink, add completely new ones without doing any of the classical disk manag

It is possible but inadvisable. A more realistic approach would be terminal + browser. Living in a terminal itself doesn't really mean much, as it strongly depends on your tasks. For things like number crunching or programming, it has

This seems to be mostly a US American thing, mainly because of the same reasons BBM was a thing: lots of chats over SMS used to be a thing, and then chats over iMessage, which like BBM, you can only join if you have a device from a specific

You probably already have this. Nearly every ISP has been delivering home gateways with DHCP and DNS built in, and DHCP-registration into the local DNS cache. So <your-computer>.lan or <your-computer>.home are likely candidates.

It's more a policy issue than a technical issue. But security-wise, malware on macOS is definitely not a solved problem. There are very real differences between the pervasiveness of iOS (and iPadOS) exploits and on macOS. As for reason

Those earlier macOS versions don't have the frameworks to run virtualisation with. There are some hacks (mackintosh-ish) that allow you to run very old Intel releases on non-ARM releases, those virtualise the CPU but emulate nearly eve

That is correct. But lets leave the VMs for now. The hypervisors is where the problem is at, if a hypervisor has no release for a specific platform, you cannot use it, period. That is the problem with VirtualBox. There is no VirtualBox for
