We use the term "programming language," but I wonder how much like learning a real language it actually is. Will we see some of the same benefits as bilingual individuals? Does learning multiple programming languages make it easie

For anyone unfamiliar with the syntax used to achieve this, it's called Tagged Template Literals [0] and it's part of ES2015. You have a function that receives the static strings and interpolations and can return anything you want

The post didn't discuss The backoff behavior of QUIC. For TCP, a dropped packet results in a halving of the data rate to help with assumed congestion of the network. Does QUIC act as a good network citizen? Are they experimenting with

Software Engineering is an exercise in compromise. How does the risk of a bug compare with the benefits of the code? I think it's fair to say that there is more code being written today, by a more diverse group of people, than ever bef

I used to use a service like this called endjunk.com. A few years ago it shut down without warning and I found I couldn't receive emails or update my username for several services. I tried rolling my own for a while, but it was painful

I find all of the outrage over this to be completely overblown. Everyone complains that OS upgrades are too difficult and so they desperately try to avoid them. This results in running 7 year old code that is going to stop being supported i

I see technical debt differently. Technical debt is something you take on in exchange for moving faster. Maybe you skipped writing unit tests. Maybe you didn't respond to all the style feedback, or even do a code review. But at the tim
