This is a great project but it's not clear to me how the HN title ("2M FPS with $5 Raspberry Pi Cameras") is related.

I find this argument exhausting. You can always define the system in such a way that there is some deleterious effect somewhere.

Reminds me of the difference between the Apple II and the very Jobs-ian Macintosh. One you could get into and upgrade without even a screwdriver. The other took two special tools and would happily zap you to death if you touched the wrong p

Looks like we're in store for more random casting about for optimizations from those at the helm. I expect this continue until the service is an unrecognizable, unusable mush of content with zero signal to noise for what matters.

Same! I've been wanting to work through the catalog of Miyazaki films but the stuff is streaming unobtainium. Quite a wait at the library too. This seems like the only way to go haha.

For my language choices I'm constrained to reading Anna Karenina as my material, haha, but I still consider this pretty good! Thanks for the tip.

Anyone know of a "reader" app for books that does something similar? (Totally getting this though---I might not be sold on the Netflix stuff but in general this plugin seems invaluable to me at this point in my Russian skills).

Who was it that said no one in America is poor, they're just "temporarily embarrassed millionaires"? This comment is a pretty good representation of that sentiment.

Can't recommend Night in the Woods enough. I played it on the Switch while visiting home for Christmas, which made for a surreal overlap of fiction and reality. Shows just how pitch-perfect the writing is.

It has been a long journey but I think I'm finally becoming a self-driving skeptic. And those cars driving around out in Arizona right now might as well be driving around in the Matrix---nowhere near a general purpose solution.

The Apple II's somewhat exotic "hires" mode didn't even HAVE an indexed palette. Instead you just wrote 1s and 0s for pixels directly to the display memory, and their arrangement on the screen determined their color. T

I think there's a lot of "chat app fatigue." I've personally had 5 or 6 on my phone in the past year and you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming into installing even one more of the damned things.

Darn near 100% of attempts to describe quantum mechanics with English sentences end up far from their target. To paraphrase the protagonist of A Serious Man : "No one understands the cat. The math... the math is what's important.

I took several years of Russian in college and am now trying to pick up a little German. Word of mouth had taught me to fear the German case system but... after Russian? Hard to see what all the fuss is about.
