Click bait. This wasn't abrupt, and it has nothing to do with a safety crisis at OpenAI. And hopefully OpenAI's safety frameworks do not rely upon any one individual.

A one line change, that took a decent amount of reasoning to get to for a large codebase, cost $3.57 just now. I used the o3 model. The quality and the reasoning was excellent. Cheaper than an engineer.

Well, in fairness, Anthropic has less because 1) they started later, 2) could learn from competitors' mistakes, 3) focused on enterprise and not consumer, 4) have fewer resources. The point is taken — and OpenAI agrees. They have said

I would rather pay for o1-pro and also have access to the fantastic 4o image generation. o1-pro feels, to me, far ahead for complex coding tasks. I do really prefer Claude’s unified model interface. Hopefully OpenAI improves that soon. Thei

I argue a "self hosted" alternative to "Heroku / Netlify / Vercel" is by definition not an alternative to "Heroku / Netlify / Vercel".

Tough break for Matt Mullenweg, who unfortunately was caught up in this reduction in force. I am sure this unexpected change will afford him new opportunities. Wishing him the best!

One, if you charge above API costs, you should never police usage (so long as you're transparent with customers). Why would you need to cap usage if you're pricing correctly? (Rate limits aside) Two, yes, many people will pay $20&

Not so fast. I really like the form factor of the Surface Pro and appreciate that a proper PC build runs circles around Macs for gaming - but features like nano-texture displays on the MacBook Pro from Apple is yet another hardware improvem

For better or worse, I’ve been using Tailwind since it was released. I’m not even sure I remember intermediate to complex CSS. Better places to spend time. I’m really grateful for what that team has done.

Equally unimpressed by 4.5 and frankly I find Sam Altman to be the least inspiring visionary to ever have the label. But. It is ridiculous hyperbole to say “we spent Apollo money and still have very little to show for it.” And it’s absurd t

If the war ends, that is peace. Do you believe Ukraine will be better off financially by continuing the war, even if it is on America’s credit card? They will not flourish in the present state, however noble they believe the effort is. War

I’d prefer this model if it were faster, but not at this cost. And so it is an odd release. Still, with Deep Research and Web Search, ChatGpt seems far ahead of Claude. I like 3.7 a lot but I find OpenAI’s features more useful, even if it h

Sam continues to be the least impressive person to ever lead such an amazing company. Odd communication from him recently too. We’re sorry our UI has become so poor. We’re sorry this model is so expensive and not a big leap. Being rich and

I have the opposite experience. I'm incredibly produce with 3.5 in Agent/Composer mode. I wonder if it's something to do with the size of the Vue community (and thus the training data available) versus React.

What's really the value of a bunch of random anecdotes on HN — but in any case, I've absolutely had the experience of 3.5 falling over on its face when handling a very complex coding task, and o1 pro nailing it perfectly. Excited
