You haven’t even lived half your life. Hell you haven’t even gone through half your work life, how could you be too old? Never let fear of the future stop you from doing something that you want to do. Well, maybe within reason, but changing

I really wish the cyberpunk novels I read in my youth would stop becoming reality. Especially Distraction by Bruce Sterling comes to mind. It’s just so crazy that political entities run false campaigns, and that the impact of these campaign

We use this sort of identification for any joint services in public sector digitalisation, which is a lot, because a lot of our foundation is shared. Reading this I’m fairly happy we do it mainly with C# at my place. All that configuration

I have a lot of fond memories of going to the local video game shop with my friends to look at boxes, or a mid-night opening to pick up Diablo 2 before a weekend-long LAN party. I miss the meaty manuals, that I still have for games like Bal

Your comparison is a little flawed. IRS staff are a net surplus for the government, and its quite silly to get rid of someone who makes money. We did it in Denmark during our new public management period. It cost us billions in tax evasion

I’m surprised HN is so hostile toward IT architecture. I work in the public sector in Denmark, and enterprise architecture is vital for us. We’re 98 municipalities that each operate around 300 different IT systems. These need to interact wi

What counts as the glory days of computation? On HN it’s probably having a great deal of control and ownership over our systems. I’m not sure that’s what most people would consider glory though. I work with digitalisation in the public sect

Out of curiosity I looked up the authors CV, and he started attending a university in 2000. I do find someone old enough to attend a university, calling an elected official stupid cunt and a whore, horrible.

Haven’t we become a lot less apt at exposing manipulation? There isn’t a history of what you see in your social media feed or in your search results, and there is no record of who paid for it to look the way it did on that particular day. F
