That's the wrong SKU, it's actually Haswell/Broadwell and 4c8t, not 2c4t: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/92983/i...

I'd get that if it was a full desktop build, however in this case it's an off-the-shelf barebone that you plug two standard things into - but to each their own I guess.

Hm, that's fair enough for a more complex desktop build in my opinion (except for the unfortunate fact that you often end up with paying a premium for worse hardware that way), but in this case the NUC is an off-the-shelf standard bare

OOI, why System76 for those? As far as I can tell they're just off-the-shelf NUCs, and System76 are ~$200 more for a sensible spec than buying the NUC, some RAM and a good NVMe drive yourself. How do you find them for noise? I had an 8

For me, it's all about text. I spend my whole day staring at text in some form - email, code, etc. A good high DPI display creates a much better text shape for the same physical size text on screen (and doesn't have as much of an

Is there some hardware limitation of AMD Ryzen laptop processors that prevents a high-res display? Every time I see one of these laptops (like the recent HP linux laptop, etc), I think they look really interesting except that I wish they ha

I have a Caldigit TS3 Plus dock that I've used with a 2018 15" MBP, a 2019 16" MBP and a M1 Max MBP. External monitor support has been pretty reliable on both - moreso on the M1 Max than the 2019 or 2018 one. I drive two exte

Firefox improved this a fair amount a while ago now - by moving to CoreAnimation for a bunch of their rendering? I find Chrome absolutely murders the battery life of my work 16" MBP, though.

I don't see it as that. I see it as Google will use the same techniques they used for desktop to aggressively push Chrome regardless of technical merit - aggressive banners & popups on their own web properties, user-agent based blo

I use Cockpit on isolated Debian Bullseye VM hosts to provide a UI to libvirt. It's very nice for that - it's minimalist, it doesn't get in the way of anything you want to do manually, and it doesn't wreck your VM config
