Related to this post, I just listened to an interesting podcast about habits[0]. It debunks some of the common myths about willpower and self-control. According to the host, the "secret" is building healthy habits over time. The p

What if some people prefer to live in nice "hip" cities (that for them means culturally interesting) even at the cost of living without a private garden in a detached house?

You can continue to pay only for what you use and handle super bursty workloads. But there is no free solution to cold-start if you don't see the future. People needing consistent latency were already doing something similar to keep th

I'm using Sony WH-1000XM3 and I'm extremely satisfied. Before I was using some JBL in ear. Expecially in an open office, the additional passive noise cancellation of good over ear headphones is important for me. I find the Bose QC

The title is misleading, serverless is slower and more expensive for this particular use case, assuming that the author used the best practices for lambda performances.

An example, near Frankfurt outside the centre the property price is around 5000€ per m^2. 100m^2 for a couple is considered quite confortable, costing around €400k. This means a 25 years mortgage at 1,5% interest rate (atm it could get even

It would also reduce the ratio players:console. A personal console stays most of the time off, in a data-center you can increase usage by an order of magnitude. So at the end, even if they buy new hardware every year it would cost less phys

I think we can consider the devices where the content is accessed as thin clients. There is some literature supporting the thin client architecture (e.g. https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/55689271.pdf ) and it seems

I agree with you. I would add another huge efficiency advantage of a data-center over a console, that is better heat dissipation.

Assuming what you're saying is correct, then the best thing would be to port Apache Spark from Scala to Rust (or Go?).

I can confirm AWS Lambda still has this problem. A dirty solution could be to time-trigger your function every x seconds to keep the container alive. For example, doing that every 10 seconds would produce 259200 request per 30-days month, s
