The statement was made on the AWS blog, which was linked from an earlier post of this item I think. Anyway: https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/new-open-distro-for-elastic... > This is not a fork; we will continue

Well to be fair they explicitly said it wasn't a fork, and that any work they do on it will be pushed upstream. The cynical view, I guess, is that the commits they push will be providing free features that compete with Elastic's p

I feel like this post is a good illustration of a lesson I learned quite painfully... two or three times before it sank in. When you have a business and you feel like saying a thing, if you can't think of a strong practical benefit to

This has to be just a money grab right? How can they possibly contend that people using ride sharing services exacerbates road congestion? Neither of their arguments makes any sense.

I disagree. You seem to prefer a strong docker-centric idea of package management. I think that by drawing the line where they did they made it possible for anyone to use whatever package management scheme made sense for a given application

I'm sure this will trawl up some anti-google opinions, but I've had a good experience with Smartlock. If you're bought into the chrome ecosystem it works very well. I'm aggressive about getting rid of old accounts and pr

It looks to me like the default result set has 11k or so documents, which is very small. A couple of years ago I helped build a specialized vertical search engine that provided faceted search over a similarly-sized dataset. We used django o
