Thanks for the info. One more question if you have the time: to what degree are you limited by data, vs. other factors? If you could have 10x the training data, would that 10x your performance, or are other factors in the way (eg. compute,

On the one hand, I cry every time the open web loses a bit, and certainly AMP is a loss for the open web. After all Google is essentially trying to make the web its platform. But as a user... I love, yes love AMP. All of these complaints ab

AMP preloads pages before you click them, which means it's much faster than mobile. You could argue that a browser could preload Google search results before you click them, but: (1) those pages could be giant, and loads 10 giant pages

I used to have this opinion so I know where you’re coming from. I live in Mt View and I bought a condo about ten years ago. Since then traffic has been getting worse, and they put in some fairly ugly developments. A few things changed my mi

I like people too but not random train passengers. They smell bad, are unattractive and grouchy. I don’t want to strike up conversations with randos. They make the train dirty. I don’t think this makes me “elitist.” The reason rich people

The main disadvantage of serverless though is the need to learn an entirely new tech stack, and one that is locked in to AWS. Migrating a large (or medium sized) Django app to Lambda has non-trivial cost in terms of engineering time. Also t

Those ads are probably to pay the news companies, not Apple. They probably don’t get any money from Apple so they need some revenue to justify licensing their content for Apple news.

Those numbers you posted are probably inaccurate. The true numbers really depend on whether you itemize your deductions, and how much. This particular tax bill substantially raises taxes for people who itemize, in particular states with hig

You have to go city-by-city to get approval. It's painful even for a company with infinite money like Google. And Comcast will (also with infinite money) will fight you city-by-city. Not only is city-by-city approval painful, it is als

Indeed; for crypto trading, your unit of account matters a lot. I'd recommend using BTC as the unit of account, so you aren't counting 100x+ USD increases.
