It means exactly what the license allows. Mostly proprietary seems a lot better than totally proprietary in the absence of open source alternatives. It’s bizarre to me when people complain about things like “tivoization” or “open core”. The

You are correct. The parent is mistaken, or at least exaggerating and at worst libelous. “KaiOS is based on the Firefox OS open-source project and we are committed to abide by the rules of the applicable open source licenses.” https:/

Thank you! It is poor use of time to argue about such a terribly writen article. If the OP author genuinely wants people to know it is OK drinking $5 lattes daily, they need to stop qualifying the consumption as occasional. The article has

I feel it is in a similar spirit as the OP here. In both articles the important take away for me is focusing on an approach and tools that match the problems. It sounds like you are making a similar point. I also appreciate quality of the w

This is great. It reminds of that Adam Drakes’ 2014 article “Command-line Tools can be 235x Faster than your Hadoop Cluster” [1] was the wake up call I needed. 1. https://adamdrake.com/command-line-tools-can-be-235x-faster-

Your example is not a good one as you are using extremes of local vs next town. You proposal a complex system, but use simple examples. Assuming you have equally qualified candidates, which you don’t because you can’t afford to wait, how l

I raise the topic of discrimination and instead of addressing it, you respond with a simple example. The person who creates the straw man should fill it. If you use any criteria other than the qualifications of the job, you open yourself up

This is a novel idea, but introduces worse problems of discrimination. You should not use candidates address or commute as criteria in hiring. I do see companies set up satellite or second offices. I do wonder if an companies of scale use p

Although the previous comment is very incorrect, this information is also not correct. The greencard process is a multi step, often many year process. If you are from a country with per country limits you can be approved for a green card, w

Your post reminded me that I’m still smarting from my used 2017 car purchase last year. The windshield is pitted and replacement is the only real option and is expensive. We couldn’t see the speckling. We really noticed in the summer.
