As much as I absolutely detest spying and surveillance capitalism, this is the _least_ invasive solution, but please remove or anonymize ALL IPs in your logs. Other than that I would not log, track or collect any requests from people.

I’ll take it further, At this point, you should NOT trust ANY company or startup (especially VC funded) with any data you give to them and you should treat all companies with full suspicion. Security mishaps, leaks, Data misuse and most imp

They already own Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. If they can't get them on FB, the features will trickle down towards the family of apps, maybe under a different app name or feature.

It is this that I cringe hard whenever a developer mentions 'the modern web' or 'the free and open web'. I wish websites were as simple as HN. + Lightweight. + No ads. + Works without (or little to no) JS. + Does not mak

This post is infuriating and a new nadir in "tweet leadership" right after that 10x developer myth tweet[0]. Engineers and game devs shouldn't have to destroy their work life balance just for making a video game for children.

Only if they provide an electron app, to which then yes it is a 'desktop app'. Autodesk's demo is in a web browser, good luck trying this when you're offline.

Although a monumental achievement from Autodesk, that is not a _desktop application_ that is a web app.

That might be the case economically, but this isn't the future that I or end users want, look where this has gotten modern desktop development, you now have sluggish, slow, bloated applications vying for end user's resources. e.g.

Totally agree, but unfortunately, when you're in a slow moving industry you don't have the luxury of doing rewrites on a whim. You'd be surprised how Python 2 is _still_ being used in this day and age.
