The majority of HN users are 0.0001% of FB users and it clearly isn't built for them. As a response to the quote, FB can do this not only "because they can", but also they are taking on the Match Group family of apps (Tinder, OKC, etc.) This was inevitable whether the tech crowd or the privacy parade likes it or not.
